~Old tins from our basement~

'Went scrappin' in our basement the other day looking for any old and/or rusty keepsakes. In the photo above are two "treasures" that I found. The old Folger's coffee tin is circa 1952 (we think). 'Only thing is there is a little rust hole on the bottom. Mother won't drink any brand of coffee except Folgers, lol! The other is an old W.R. Case tin canister. Do you all recognize that brand name? I did from the start. Eagerly opened it to see what was inside. Was it empty? Old nails? A collectible?

Yes! Inside was an old and rusty W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company pocket knife! How cool is that! This company was founded back in 1889 in America. We think this particular knife is probably circa 1950's or 1960's. It belonged to my late step-father. Cherished because it was his, and also a bit of nostalgia. Do you all ever look for "hidden treasures"?

Isn't it funny how we like the old rusty things now. Years ago, we would have thrown them out.
