Gwennie Inspired QAL: center & first row

I am participating in the Gwennie Inspired QAL over at Humble Quilts Blog. Pictured above is the center. We are to choose a basket design. Mine is a traditional basket with 3 appliquéd tulips inside. The first row is to be something that reminds us of our childhoods, so I chose a blue print fabric with flowers and bees. This reminds me of all those summer days when my twin sister and I played outdoors until nearly dark when mother would call us to come inside. Nowadays, just think, most children don't even want to "play outside" because "... it's too hot", or "there's no wi-fi or smartphone reception", lol. Those were the days, weren't they? Looking forward to next month's round with this QAL to see what that inspiration will be. To find the QAL and the link party, follow the image link on this blog's left sidebar. Prim blessings.

Childhood Memories are the Best. Summers did seem longer way back then for me. I like your Basket too. I'm almost ready to Jump in!

That is super cute! I like that you pieced and appliqued!!
I remember the whole neighborhood playing together in summer until dark.

Simple flowers in your design. A good start to the medallion sew-along. Do you have an idea for your next round?

Your tulips remind me of growing up - Holland MI wasn't too far away and their annual tulip festival was an annual day trip and highlight.

That's a lovely basket, and you are way ahead of most of us, having already added your first border.

You're way ahead of us and inspiring some of us on how to tackle the childhood theme. Very nice block.
