Improv Play completed quilt!

Finally, my Improv Play quilt is completed. This was an eight week QAL hosted by Elm Street Quilts Blog. This was my first attempt at letting go of symmetry and sewing improv-style. Very challenging, but also very fun and educational. The completed quilt is 36"X40", and is machine-stitched with allover meandering. Please continue reading.

The batting is Warm N' Natural©. Be sure to visit Elm Street Quilts Blog to see the Parade of completed Improv Play quilts. They are all very creative and beautiful.

Here is the backing of my Improv Play quilt. It is pieced with the QAL's last prompt, word/text. I chose the word Play. This quilt is the perfect size to cuddle with while watching TV. In addition, I won a prize from Elm Street Quilts! Thank you so much Patty! Prim quilting blessings to all.

I like the free form look of your "Improve Play" quilt. The quilt takes on it's own personality through your use of color and form. I keep thinking that I want to make a quilt but I would not know where to start.

Thank you Candy. You can do it. Just "jump in" like I did. Online advice/tutorials (many are free) + just trying to quilt on a small quilt block first. There are also many free-for-personal-use quilt block patterns.
