*Happy birthday Amanda 2013*

Happy birthday to my lovely daughter, Amanda! The photo is of her on her recent visit, opening her gifts. The "big" gift is a 20"X12" gold-framed panel of Amanda at 3,6,9,and 12 months old. The original is an oil painting, which would cost way above what any of us could afford in 2013. Mother and daddy had bought the original oil painting back in 1985 as a gift for me. The artist gave me the copyright, and we did the 4 images in natural color with a pretty white mat and oval openings. 'Forgot to get a photo of the actual panel, woops. Amanda loves it! Happy 29th birthday baby- I love you ♥

~Thrifty Thursday: Alabama plate~

This is a somewhat vintage porcelain state plate of Alabama, my home. It features our state capitol, Montgomery; the world's largest cast iron statue located in Birmingham, the Vulcan; Huntsville's Space and Rocket Center; and battleship USS Alabama. This plate was a really thrifty find for only $1.00 How cool is that!

'seems i have overdone it on typing since breaking my arm. the above post and some others were typed and scheduled before breaking the arm. so, i will have to go back to one-handed typing for today. got a good report from the dr. on wednesday. the particular area where the arm break is at often has trouble healing, so the dr. checks it weekly. thank you all for the prayers and for your understanding of the situation. also, do any of your blog lists keep disappearing and/or changing settings? must be a glitch...

~Happy 2nd birthday Macey!~

Today is my beautiful grand-daughter Macey's 2nd birthday! The photo is from her visit back in May. She opened her gifts from mother [great-grandma] and me. The princess crown was one of the gifts. Macey loves the bling! 'Suits her fine, doesn't it? She also received two pair of sandals and six new outfits. Happy birthday Macey. Granny and Great-granny both love you so much!

On another note, my broken arm is a bit less painful. Trying to exercise the hand often, per the doctor's orders. 'Can type better, including the caps key, lol!

Have we made a mistake?

Well, friends we may have made a mistake about Google Friend Connect (GFC). I double-checked the page that many of us refer to as "the word" on GFC, and it does not list GFC in the closings. Google Reader, a news feed or RSS project, however, is on that closings list. What does this mean to us? That our Blogger Reading Lists will be closed? The Blogger Reading List, or Blogs I Follow, appear below the Dashboard page with all of the blogs that you author (exa: Danice's Blogs). Even blogs that do not have a GFC button and/or are not on the Blogger platform can be added to the list.

This should not affect our GFC Followers list gadget(?) Here is the link to my question, that page link, and a quick reply from Hermione at Google Product Forums: Is GFC Closing?

*-----UDATE: 22 JUNE-----*

Jessica is correct: Google Reader and Blogger Reading List are not the same thing. 'Have just now found another answer in Google Product Forums, stating that GFC and Google reader are two separate items and that GFC is not closing that only Google Reader is closing. Here is the link to that page: Are GFC and Google Reader Connected?

Got a green cast

Good afternoon friends. Yes, 'got myself a green cast. it is so good to have that temp splint gone. nowadays, medical casts are often made of fiberglass rather than plaster. since that is available in many colors, of course i chose my favorite- green. the break is all the way through the ulna (the larger bone) and the radius (smaller bone). today is the first day since the accident that things are getting better. kudos to north alabama bone and joint clinic for fixin' me up. thank you blogging friends for all for the love and encouragement. you all make life's difficult times so much easier to bear. what color cast would you have chosen?

~Sending-out a happy birthday to my grandson Kevin~

~My raggedy dolls: Part 3~

Hello friends. 'Thought I'd share some more of my raggedy dolls with you. All three of these were made by Rene of: Sew Many Raggedies. The patterns are by Prim Raggs. Their clothing was made by me. Yes, I really do love raggedy dolls. Y'all be sure to go visit Rene's blog and her webstore as well. Prim Raggs' web store must be closed, as the internet cannot locate that page. Does anyone know anything about that?

Also sending-out best wishes to all on Father's Day. My father passed away back in 1989, and then my step-father passed away in 2006. They were great men, whom I miss all of the time. I do have a wonderful son-in-law who is an excellent father to his children as well as an excellent husband to my daughter. My brother-in-law is married to my twin sister, and he is also an excellent father to their children and an excellent husband to my twin sister. Happy Father's Day to my son-in-law Jamie and to my brother-in-law Wendell. Prim blessings.

~Thrifty Thursday: scherenschnitte~

This is a small 3.75"X 6.75" framed scherenschnitte, a German term meaning scissor cuts. The art form dates as far back as the 16th century in Germany and Switzerland. In the 18th century, new settlers brought the craft to America. Some of the Pennsylvania Dutch Amish people still make scherenschnitte. Isn't this one too cute? Across the bottom it reads, Loving hearts make a house a home. The cream-colored paper with the cut-outs lies over the burgundy-colored paper, forming a two dimensional view. This beautiful framed work of art was a real thrifty purchase for just .50¢
