Doll Quilt Swap from Mary

Recently I participated in the Doll Quilt Swap over at Humble Quilts blog. The quilt pictured above was sewn for me by Mary of: Quiltin' Grandma. She chose the Broken Dishes pattern, and the fabrics are gorgeous! Mary chose a very intricate and gorgeous leaf motif stippling for this quilt, and added 2 corners on the back so the quilt can also be hanged as a wall display. She also created a nice custom label for the quilt. Thank you so much, Mary. I adore this doll quilt. Also sending many thanks for Lori at: Humble Quilts for hosting this fun swap. This is a great way to meet other quilters and enjoy their blogs. To see the quilt that I sewed for my partner, visit this post: Nine Patch Doll Quilt. Prim quilting blessings to you all.

Nine patch doll quilt

Recently, I participated in the doll quilt swap at: Humble Quilts Blog. Pictured above is the quilt that I made for my partner, Barbara at: My Joyful Journey. The pattern is a traditional nine patch, a free pattern from Kathleen Tracy of: Country Lane Quilts. Pattern is enlarged to make the doll quilt 24"X31". The fabrics are Civil War era reproduction, per the swap rules. The batting is 100% cotton Warm N' Natural©. Simple meandering stippling was chosen as the quilting stitch. 'Want to see the custom label that was created for the back of the doll quilt? Please continue reading.

Simplicity 1568A: girl's jumper pattern

'Hope all of you are having a wonderful day. Pictured above is an adorable jumper for my granddaughter. The pattern is Simplicity 1568A. This view features red fabric flowers along the lower area, and a banded hem of contrasting fabric. This one is made of fabrics that are very similar to the pattern's sample. The light blue and red are really en vogue and just too cute. The light blue cotton fabric is Kona's Candy Blue. This pattern requires a bit of hand work, for the flowers and their embroidered stems. The bodice is lined, and there are 2 buttonholes required for fasteners. Please continue reading.

Thrifty Thursday: remnant fabrics

More Thrifty Thursday finds! Pictured above are seven cotton fabric remnants, including 2 pieces of denim and a piece of plaid wool. Each piece is approximately 3/4-1 yard, so plenty big enough for crafting or sewing small clothing items such as children's shorts or skirts. For .50¢ each, the grand total was only $3.50. How awesome is that. Plus, it is always good to support the local small businesses. After all, how many of us can resist the chance to buy fabric, lol! Also sending warm Mother's Day blessings to you all for Sunday.

Boy's camp shirt

Good morning dear friends. Pictured above is a cute camp shirt, sewn from an older pattern- McCall's 4164. The shirt is 100% cotton. The fancy stitching detail was my idea. It is done in a shade of grey. Actually, this shirt was sewn some years ago as a prototype. Yesterday, I finished it up for my cute great-nephew's 3rd birthday. We all held his party at a local park, where he really had himself a grand time. Some people think that there are no cute clothing patterns for little boys: wrong.

See the stitching detail? Kinda reminds me of a "big boy's" shirt. This shirt does have four buttonhole fasteners, plus a roll-over collar and lined front facings. These features earn this pattern a difficulty rating of:
