Simplicity 1289: cute dress w/ purse

Good morning friends. Pictured above is another dress for my granddaughter. This one is a contemporary, modern style. It is made of 100% cotton fabrics. It is a mock 2 piece, with a solid chocolate brown dress section and pink, lime and red floral sleeves and ruffle collar. Wow, that added trim though- a cute little functioning "purse" sewn to the left side! The lime rick racking serves as a "strap". How cute of a design element is that! Granddaughter loves purses, and this dress. The pattern has several style options, including a dress pattern for an 18" doll. The fastener is a back neckline loop and button. Gwennie Inspired QAL: center & first row

I am participating in the Gwennie Inspired QAL over at Humble Quilts Blog. Pictured above is the center. We are to choose a basket design. Mine is a traditional basket with 3 appliquéd tulips inside. The first row is to be something that reminds us of our childhoods, so I chose a blue print fabric with flowers and bees. This reminds me of all those summer days when my twin sister and I played outdoors until nearly dark when mother would call us to come inside. Nowadays, just think, most children don't even want to "play outside" because "... it's too hot", or "there's no wi-fi or smartphone reception", lol. Those were the days, weren't they? Looking forward to next month's round with this QAL to see what that inspiration will be. To find the QAL and the link party, follow the image link on this blog's left sidebar. Prim blessings.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters QAL blocks

I have joined in (late) the Ugly Christmas Sweaters QAL over at Sew Fresh Quilts Blog. Pictured above are two blocks, the weather Vane and the Swedish. Since the background fabric is a white-on-white snowflakes print, the collars are colored instead of white. When finished, there will be nine blocks sewn and quilted into a lap-sized throw. The QAL actually has many more blocks available, so that a larger quilt can be sewn. People are using solid color fabrics as well as prints. What a nice modern quilt design. There is also a Flickr group for the photos.

Kelsey's summer skirt

Good morning friends. Kelsey is now wearing a darling wrap skirt all ready for the summer heat. It is made of white cotton fabric. Her sleeveless blouse is made of knit jersey in a summery shade of pale pink. The blouse has a little lilac flower with a button trim near the lower left front. Look in her hair- Kelsey has a hair bow made of the same pink jersey fabric. The patterns are free, but cannot recall where they are from. Finishing off the look, Kelsey wears her white espadrilles. Are you enjoying summer clothing yet this year?
