Halloween purse

Happy Halloween to you all. 'Not a holiday that we celebrate as such, but many people do, including my daughter and her family. This is a little ruffled purse with shoulder strap that I made-up for granddaughter last year. The purple fabric has witches (her favorite) printed on it. 'Just a quick little project that she did love. That girl loves her some purses, lol. See, clipped to the front of the purse, is a black & orange pumpkin print hair bow also? So, what about 31st October is so special to our family? My brother-in-law's birthday, that's what. Sending many happy birthday wishes out to the best BIL ever- Wendell. You all be safe while out trick-or-treating. Prim Halloween blessings.

Autumn Jubilee QAL: wool penny rug

Pictured above is the darling wool penny rug from the Autumn Jubilee celebration going on over at: From My Carolina Home. My rug was made of scrap wool pieces, as no stores here locally carry any wool felt. 'Did not have any mustard-colored wool, so a quick research suggested what colors to mix to achieve the color. Using some dyes that I already have, a mustard color was possible. The back is an olive-colored wool. Many thanks to Carole for this fun jubilee. Hey, the little thrift store candle & base looks awesome with this penny rug, doesn't it?

Autumn Jubilee QAL: little quilt completed

Hello friends. The festive little quilt pictured above is from the Autumn Jubilee celebration going on over at: From My Carolina Home. Be sure to visit Carole's blog for many fun projects. There are several options for the leaf and pumpkin blocks above, this is only one of the projects. It was made entirely from my stash, and has Warm N' Natural© batting. The fabrics are all 100% cottons. The backing is pieced from some of the orange and green fabrics. The binding is a golden shade of mustard. As usual, the machine quilting is meandering. On the back are hanging loops and a label with the event name on it. Carole also provides a tutorial for those back hanging loops. Are you quilting/sewing/crafting for autumn?

Happy trees backpack

Hello all! 'Hope your week is going great. Do you ever sew items that are not quilts or clothing? Pictured above is a backpack for my granddaughter. The pattern is designed by Liz Porter, and is called Groovy Backpack. The book's title is Quilt Lover's Gifts: Best of Fons & Porter, published by Leisure Arts. This awesome book was purchased for a mere $3.50 when our local Hancock Fabrics went out of business. The pattern actually calls for pre-quilted fabrics, but I just quilted my own fabric with a cross-hatch design. The 100% cotton print is whimsical trees with word art, "Happy, Fun, Together, Laughter". The backing is an abstract multi color print cotton. Inside is a label with granddaughter's name sewn-down well with a zig-zag stitch. The shoulder straps act as drawstrings to open & close the backpack. Although maybe not for heavy books, this backpack is perfect for carrying her gymnastics gear. A Velcro© closure on the front pocket is handy.

Winner on: OK so what is this item? contest

Good morning friends. We do have a winner on the OK, so what is this item? contest. Thank you to all who ventured a guess, lol. The item is an old glass baby formula container/mixer from the 1960's. 'Assuming that the ones for baby boys were likely blue (?). Since mother had twin girls, this one is pink. The old metal stove-top sterilizer with rack and some glass baby bottles was also under the sink along with this. Wow, talk about feeling old, lol! Our winner is:
