Thrifty Thursday: old flour sifter

Good morning friends. Look what else was found in the [old] original kitchen cabinets during our kitchen reno: this old metal flour sifter! It is aged a lot, but does still function. The handle knob is wood. Since the house was built in the 1940's, it could be of that era. Wow, what to do with it. Would you just leave it as is, or decorate it a bit? All I did was clean it up. Oh, and the cost was free, lol. Prim blessings.

Carolina Pine Tree mug rug

Hello friends. 'Hope you all are doing well on this autumn night. Our weather has suddenly turned quite cooler here in Alabama. 'Makes you want to cuddle up with a mug of cocoa or coffee, doesn't it? Pictured above is a mug rug from a prim pattern by Karlene of: Scrapmuffin Quilts. This was also the prize for the winner of my recent OK, So What Is This? giveaway. 'Love this pattern so much. In fact, planning to make one for myself. The pattern also includes a table runner version. Do you like making mug rugs and other smaller quilts?

New quilting fabrics: come see!

Good morning to you all. In October, there was an Autumn Jubilee over at Carole's blog: From My Carolina Home. Several of us won gifts from the weekly giveaways, and I was a lucky winner of a $25.00 gift certificate from The Fat Quarter Shop. These fabrics are from a collection designed by Carrie Bloomston, called: Allegory Story. The bundle includes 11 fat quarters + one 1/2 yard cut of fabric. It was on sale, and what an awesome deal! Don't you just love the vivid, luscious colors and the eclectic theme? Yes, some traditional quilters might be rolling their eyes at a modern choice, lol. That is OK though. Many of us do love the traditional as well as the modern designs. 'Got plans for creating not one but two projects from these fabrics. Sending more thanks to Carole. 'Want to see the 2nd winning from that same week? Please continue reading.

Westering Women: playing catch-up

Well, it has been many months since I have posted any work on my Westering Women QAL progress.Pictured above is the October block- Rocky Mountain Chain. However, I have been posting every month to my Flickr page. The slide-out link is on this blog's top left, beside the blog header. This QAL is super fun and educational. The original plan was to use the "quilt-as-you-go" method, yeah somehow that did not happen (lol). It is not too late to get in on this QAL. Visit Barbara's: Civil War Quilts Blog and the group: Flickr page to see the monthly blocks through October. Prim quilting blessings.
