Kelsey's groovy dress

It's been a while since she visited this blog, so here's Kelsey wearing her purple tye-dye dress and beads necklace. The dress is made of a bandana, really. The necklace was made by my daughter many years ago, so it is really special. Kelsey is all ready for warmer weather. To see another adorable dolly, check out Diane's post: Wednesday Wee Ones.

Happy Easter 2019

Happy Easter wishes to you all. This year, it seems like the day was way over in April, doesn't it? This is the basket that I put together for my soon-to-be seven year old granddaughter. Inside are goodies like candy, a blue bunny, an egg-shaped cloth frame, some pencils, plastic eggs and grass. Yes, I made the blue bunny and the cloth frame. She already came to get these gifts, and loves them. Granddaughter also received an: Easter dress with a matching hair bow and dresses for her 18" dolls, also made by me. Isn't it fun to spoil our "grands"? Hoping your day is going healthy and well. Prim Easter blessings.

H2H 2019: quilt progress

Participating again this year in the Hands 2 Help Comfort Quilt Challenge, hosted by Sarah of: Confessions of a Fabric Addict. This is an annual event where volunteers sew quilts for a charity of their choice. This year, my quilt will be gifted to: Jack's Basket, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization concerned with babies who are affected by Down Syndrome. I will also be including several fleece caps for the babies. Stay tuned to see these gifts come to completion. Blessings.

Hand-Pieced QAL: top finished!

Two posts in one day, wow. 'Just couldn't wait to post this. Recently I participated in the Hand-Pieced QAL hosted by: Patty at Elm Street Quilts and: Kristin at: Simple. Handmade. Everyday. All of the stitching had to be done by hand. They both provided many helpful tutorials for us all. Please continue reading.

Pantone® Quilt Challenge 2019: fabric pull

Are you joining-in the Pantone® Quilt Challenge sponsored by: Bryan House Quilts and: No Hats in the House Blog? Here is my fabric pull for the largest quilt. Well, at least most of it. Add solid grey and solid black to the mix. The Color of the Year 2019 is Living Coral, so several of those are included. I am working on three projects, and two are kinda small. There will be a quilt over 30" on the sides, a pillow cover that will be considered a small quilt, and a just-the-top quilt. A lot of work ahead, isn't it? A future post will describe my inspiration(s) and patterns' details, so stay tuned. Happy Spring and happy sewing!

18" hospital gowns: A Doll Like Me

Bernie at: Needle & Foot is involved with several charity groups. One charity, A Doll Like Me, provides custom-made 18" dolls and hospital gowns for the dolls. These dolls are made for seriously ill children, so that they have a "friend" who resembles themselves. They also make doll-sized quilts for the children. You can read all about it on Bernie's blog. Here are the five gowns that I have made (so far). Easily made and requiring minimal fabric and bias tape, they are a wonderful way to help. The pink gown shows the back closing, which is simply two bias tape ties. Helping organizations like this truly keeps me smiling.
