Spinning Stars quilt blocks

These are three Spinning Stars quilt blocks that I made for: Covered in Love's July-August Block Drive. They finished at 12 1/2" square, and are sewn of patriotic red, white and blue fabrics. The deadline to mail blocks for this Drive is 31st August. So, there is still time to get sewing.

Intended to mail these much earlier, but I could not drive to the post office and walk up all of those stairs with the leg cast. Now that it is off, I am gradually getting back to business as usual. I drove for the first time since the accident, yesterday. The foot has finally loosened-up enough the bend without pain. Of course, we lost Janice during that time as well. Again, thank you all for your kind words, cards and gifts during this most tragic event of losing my twin sister. Blessings and happy sewing.

For Janice 1964-2019

On behalf of our family, we wish to thank you all for all of the prayers for my dear twin sister, Janice. With a heavy heart, she passed peacefully about three hours ago. We still do not know why her health failed so suddenly, but only that there were several factors involved. She did have many health issues and walked on a rollator. Mother and I had spent the day with Janice (and her husband) in palliative care yesterday. My cousin and her husband drove us there, about two and a half hours away, as I still cannot drive due to the leg cast. It was removed the day before, but the foot is still sore. We had to roll me up from the parking deck to the room in a wheelchair, but Janice is so worth it. Janice was a Godly woman- always kind and caring. She and her husband had been married for nearly thirty-six years, and have two adult children and two grandchildren.

I had never considered that although we entered this world only five minutes apart, that we would likely someday not leave it together. So lost now. I do not know how to live without my twin sister. For sure, things will not be as bright. Again, thank you all so much for your love. It truly is helping us right now. Blessings.

Jelly Roll Waves quilt: progress

'Finally got caught up. Here are my first eight quilt blocks for the Jelly Roll Waves QAL. Half way finished with all of the blocks for the baby size quilt. Made of a light grey cotton background, the green fabrics "waves" are a jelly roll that was on sale here locally. A few batiks from my stash were added in as well. Perfect, as my favorite color is green. My quilt will be called Pickle Waves. 'Thought that is a kinda cutesy name, isn't it? Everyone is using such a variety of gorgeous fabrics; solids, batiks and prints. Be sure to visit the link party at Busy Hands Quilts to see other people's quilt blocks.

Mosaic Mystery QAL: fabric selection

Are you going to participate in the Mosaic Mystery QAL at: Meadow Mist Designs? The layout is not revealed yet unless you request the Sneak Peek. 'Forgot that, and had to blur-out the clipboard. I am going with a soft, all solids colorway. Of course, green is included. The fabrics are from my stash of Waverly® and Kona® fabrics. There is more yardage of each fabric than in the photo. Directions will be on Cheryl's blog on the first Thursday of every month. So much fun! It's not too late to join in.

Doll backpack

Apologies for being absent for so long. Things have been hectic around here with my twin sister, who has been out of town in the hospital for eight weeks now. She made a bit of improvement yesterday, so we remain praying and hopeful. A few weeks ago, I fell and broke my foot. It was the worse time ever for that to happen. On the 23rd July that leg cast will finally be removed. Thank you all so much for your love and concern for my family. Not much sewing or quilting has been going on here lately.

cards for Safelight Project 2019

Carole of: From My Carolina Home is collecting cards for the Safelight Project again this year. The cards go to a women's shelter. These are the three cards that I made and sent. Carole provides two patterns for sunglasses cases and matching cosmetics bags. This is a worthy cause that helps women who really need encouragement. Visit Carole's blog for all of the details.
