Project Quilting 2020: Mystery Quilt finished!

Yes, that's correct... here is my completed: Project Quilting 2020 Mystery Quilt! There were 5 blocks, but I added 2 more to have 7 spool blocks. 'Added the appliqued PQ letters and heart with the '20 as well. So happy to have this one done. As always, the project was tons of fun. For the background fabric, something a bit different is that the wrong side of the fabric was used. This was because I wanted a more low volume print, and the fabric is black and white floral on the right side. Have you ever done that? This quilt is already perfect for snuggling on the couch watching TV, especially in this uber-cold weather. Thank you, Kim, for all of the Project Quilting yearly events. PQ 2021 is still going on, so you can visit and join in on the fun. Hoping you all are staying safe and warm. Now for this quilts' stats:

♦ dimensions: 40" X 54"

♦ fabrics: various 100% cotton fabrics from my stash

♦ backing: grey on grey circles print cotton fabric

♦ batting: Warm N' Natural©

♦ quilting: machine-stitched walking foot echoes in every spool, with coordinating thread colors | machine-stitched free-motion meandering in background, with white thread

♦ binding: same black and white print as background, machine and hand-stitched

Show Your Stripes Blog Hop: Day 2

Welcome to day 2 of the Show Your Stripes Blog Hop. Not sewing fabrics with stripes very often, this was an extra fun challenge for me. My project is a teddy bear for my new grandson. It is made of fleece, and the nose, paws, ears and tail are a striped cotton fabric. The pattern is from: Purl Soho.com, called Wool + Liberty Teddy Bear. He is approx, 9 1/2" sitting, and hoping grandson loves him. For baby-safety, I appliqued the eyes instead of using buttons. Be sure to visit all of the other bloggers to see their creations. Thanks to Carla of Creatin' in the Sticks for hosting this blog hop. So much fun planning and creating with striped fabrics!

Baby tie blanket

Have you seen the tie blankets? For a while now, I have considered making one. So, here it is- my first tie blanket! This one is made of fleece, with a navy, grey and white plaid top and a solid navy backing. It measures approx. 40" square, and was really fun to make. It did seem kinda odd, not quilting and all, but we are never to old to learn something new, right? Tie blankets probably won't be something I will make often, but once in a while maybe. Of course, this one is for my new grandson. Have you ever tried your hand at making one of these?

Baby quilt for new grandson!

This is the Rock and Roll baby quilt pattern designed by: Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs. It is perfect for my new grandson Parker, who was born on Dec. 28, 2020. His nursery is decorated in grey and navy, so that is the colorway. The design and fabrics will also work well for when Parker is older. This wall is my new place to photograph quilts. There is an HVAC control under the quilt, making it kinda look crooked, lol. 'Missing that great photo place outdoors at the former residence, but loving the new apartment. Sending thanks to Cheryl for yet another awesome, well-written pattern. My first finished quilt for 2021, yay! So what have you been working on lately?

♦ dimensions: 40" X 53"

♦ fabrics: various 100% cotton fabrics from my stash- solid slate grey background

♦ backing: grey on grey circles print cotton fabric

♦ batting: Warm N' Natural©

♦ quilting: machine-stitched walking foot horizontal straight lines, in slate grey thread

♦ binding: solid navy, machine and hand-stitched

Project Quilting Season 12: Challenge 3

Well, it is nearly midnight, but here is my project for Challenge 3 of Project Quilting 2021. The theme is Virtual Vacation, and this reminds me of the near-white sands along the beautiful Gulf of Mexico in Florida. 'Added the starfish applique just for fun. This little mug mat measures approx. 7 " square, and has free-motion quilting in a meander on the sand, and walking foot straight line quilting on the water. Wouldn't that beautiful weather be great today? Spring and summer will be here soon though. Be sure to visit the link party to see all of the awesome creations. How about joining in on the fun?
