Good morning friends! 'Time for the final Project Quilting Season 15 Challenge: Irish Chain. My little quilt is made mostly of fabric scraps, and green is my favorite color. For some reason, the Irish Chain pattern always seemed like one that would be super difficult to make. Surprisingly, it was not. So, this Challenge was truly important to me. It is always good to be able to learn a new quilt pattern, isn't it?

Welcome to the Give It A Whirl Blog Hop, hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt. Today is the final day, and I hope you like my project. This is a free pattern from Carolina at Always Expect More, titled: Sewlebrity Quilt Block Tote. What I love is that you can choose any 12 1/2" sewn quilt block pattern for the front. In keeping with the whirl theme of the blog hop, I chose the: Martha Washington Star block from Tara Reed. The main bag is ink navy, with white-on-white hex print and solid grey accents. Can you see the kinda double pinwheel center design? One is ink navy and the other is solid grey. Please continue reading for a list of all of the blog hoppers.

The tote quilt block is echo stitched by machine with walking foot. The pattern calls for two shorter strap handles, but I made only one and made it longer. It is topstitched for added strength. The back of the tote features a large slip-style pocket, perfect for important papers or a device. The entire tote is backed with fusible Pellon® Decor-Bond 809®. The lining is made of an abstract blues print fabric. There is a handy inside pocket as well. A magnetic snap closure is on the top center. This tote measures approx. 16" X 18" {with some added length to the pattern}. If you have not yet visited the other hoppers, it's not too late to do so. Thank you so much for visiting my blog.

For this Challenge, the projects must feature wearables- clothing apparel or accessories. Maybe an article of clothing repurposed into a quilt. Or an actual garment (clothing). When I began sewing, it was apparel and then costumes for the theatre stage {my BFA major in college}. As my grandchildren have gotten older, they prefer "store-bought" clothing, you know how that goes, lol.

Back to the Challenge. We can choose to make a quilt that is somehow representative of wearables. The project doesn't have to be a quilt though. My project is a little quilt that features Sunbonnet Sue and Suspender Sam. The patterns are from a book by Eleanor Burns {that I purchased many years ago} titled Sunbonnet Sue Visits Quilt in a Day®, ©1992. This little quilt is based upon Patricia Knoechel's wall quilt {on the book's inside back cover, titled Springtime}. Back in 2014-15, I made the full-size bed quilt for my granddaughter.

Sue and Sam are dressed in traditional Amish-inspired clothing colors. These characters just scream "wearables", don't they? Most of us instantly recognize those little dresses and bonnets, suspenders and hats. My little quilt measures approx. 9" X 11", and is machine quilted with walking foot echo stitching around each child. The children are both machine appliqued. Project title is Amish Friends. This was my first time using a striped fabric for binding. 'Can see that more precision will be needed in the future with matching those stripes. Have you ever used it? Be sure to visit the party to see all of the creative wearables. Sending many thanks to the Project Quilting hosts for another fun and inspiring Challenge! Oh, and happy National Quilting Month everyone!

Hello friends. Here is my creation for the Project Quilting 15.4 Challenge: hourglass. The creations do not have to be the actual hourglass block, but I chose to use it. Of course using green, my favorite color. This little spool wall decor quilt measures approx. 9.75" square, and is machine quilted with walking foot echo design. It was sewn RST together and then flipped, creating a "mock binding". There are two dowel pockets on the back top corners for hanging. Now I want to make more of these blocks to make a larger quilt. The title is Hourglass Spool. There are so many awesome projects, so be sure to visit and see them all. Project Quilting is always so much fun!

Good morning. Here is my creation for Project Quilting 15.3 Challenge: Inside Out. The pillow cover features raw edge applique on the mushroom and the butterfly. The whole cover was turned inside out after sewing on the mushroom. Of course it includes my favorite color, green. I had downloaded the pattern some years ago, and the green striped fabric had been in my stash for like 15 years {in fact, there is still some of it left!}. This design and colors remind me of the 70's era in my teenage years. Pattern is from: Art Gallery Fabrics- Aura. My pillow measures approx. 17" SQ, and the background is machine quilted with a meandering pattern. The back has an envelope-style opening. Be sure to visit the party to see many awesome projects in this fun Challenge.

For the current Project Quilting season 15 challenge, the theme is "sky color" with less than 10% being traditional "sky blue". The quilt measures 10" X 13.50", and is machine quilted with walking foot echo stitches. Opted for a RST sewn style with a mock binding. My little quilt is titled Sunset in Alabama. Please continue reading to see my inspiration photo, and for comments.
Good morning blog friends, "new" and "older"! Welcome to day 2 of the White Rabbit Blog Hop. There are so many fabulous creations already posted, wow! What a fun hop. Here is my project. <strike>It isn't completed, but will be soon.</strike> He is a white bunny rabbit, made of 100% cotton fabrics. 'Wanted to make him of wool felt, but couldn't get to the store with all of the snow and ice. He is 14" tall, and has an embroidered and painted face. 'Think his name will be Anders. He wears a green and white pinstripe romper. I had not heard of the tale of the white rabbit bringing good luck, but maybe he will and clear up the weather. This is a free pattern from Purl Soho titled: Soft Woolen Bunny. 'Hope you are enjoying the blog hop, and will visit all of the amazing creations. Please continue reading for comments, and a complete list of all blog hop participants.

Yes, no more computer troubles, finally. First, I apologize for being offline and missing the entire Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange Blog Hop. Carol, the hostess, was so nice to post my project on her blog. It has been so long since a post on this blog, here is that project. This is the Glad Tidings quilt, designed by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts. Please continue reading for more info, and to comment.

Glad Tidings was fun to make, and it is actually my 2nd one made from the pattern. This one is a bit larger than the first one, and is a Christmas gift for my daughter and her family {y'all don't tell them, lol}. On to this quilt's stats:

♦ dimensions: 20"X26"

♦ fabrics: 100% cotton fabrics from my stash (except the red binding)- yay for stash busting!

♦ backing: same green and red floral as the front borders and 4 patch blocks

♦ batting: Warm N' Natural©

♦ quilting: machine-stitched free-motion meandering with translucent thread

♦ binding: solid red fabric, machine and hand-stitched

Hello everyone, Have you ever just happened upon a great book find, on sale? This is a book that I have wanted for a long time, Constellations. There are so many quilt block and other patterns inside, all based upon the zodiac's 12 constellation stars. This book was only $9.01 including tax. If your local stores do not have it, the book can be found at: Fancy Tiger Crafts {not an affiliate link}. Hoping that you are all doing well and enjoying autumn.

Good morning to you all! Today is day 2 of the Monster Mash Blog Hop. This is well, part of my project. Due to having fallen and wearing an arm brace, I did not finish the rest of my project. Many apologies. The metal can is hand-painted and is decorated with a crow label (graphic: Graphics Fairy) . I speckled some vintage white paint to make the can look a bit aged. Many thanks to Joan for hosting another fun blog hop. {As soon as the rest of my project is finished, I will photograph and publish that}. Thank you so much for visiting. Way back in 2018, I participated in the Autumn Jubilee hosted by Carole of: From My Carolina Home. The stitch along was for a wool pumpkin, and I made mine into this little flower pocket. Somehow, 'never got posted on this blog. Carole even mentioned the pocket on her blog {belated thank you} in a wrap-up post. Now, some 5 years later, here it is. Wishing all of you a happy first day of the Autumn solstice. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons. Is the weather cooler where you live?

Good morning friends. 'Hoping you are all having a wonderful week. These are two cradle quilts for a drive hosted by Carole of: From My Carolina Home. The little quilts are going to a group who make wood toys for childrens' Christmas gifts. The 18" SQ quilts will go inside the cradles and other wood toys, each along with a teddy bear. Carole expressed in her post that printed fabrics for little boys would be especially appreciated, so one of mine has the tossed footballs print on it. The little quilts need to be received by Carole no later than 9th November, 2023.

The pastel-colored quilt has machine-stitched free-motion meandering, and the footballs print one has walking-foot horizontal lines. Do you ever make any quilts this size? They are perfect as cradle quilts and even table toppers.

These are some old wood spools that I found at a thrift store many years ago. Some of them got posted, but the ones in the front row (the smaller ones) did not. Isn't it funny how some things can by accident get overlooked? This photograph was originally to be a blog header, but that never happened (lol). 'Hoping that you all are having a wonderful day. Thank you for all of the sweet comments and visits to this blog. Regardless of what the world might say, blogging is still popular.

Here is my completed project for the Picnic Party Blog Hop that was hosted by Carol of: Just Let Me Quilt. It is a little quilt that can be used as a snack mat, or a decoration. The color coral reminds me of a summer picnic. This little quilt is going to be a gift for a friend whose birthday is soon this month. Please continue reading for more info, and to comment.

These fabrics are all from my stash, so that's always a good thing, right? The tiny floral is very old, like from 2010. Do you have any fabrics that are that old (lol)? Wishing that fabric were still available, but likely it is not. The quilt pattern is a chevron design. Here are this little quilt's stats:

♦ dimensions: 13"X17.50"

♦ fabrics: 100% cotton fabrics from my stash- solid coral and a tiny floral fabric on off-white background

♦ backing: solid coral 100% cotton fabric

♦ batting: Warm N' Natural©

♦ quilting: machine-stitched free-motion meandering

♦ binding: same tiny floral fabric on off-white background, machine and hand-stitched

It is a little quilt that is made of an older style tiny floral print and solid coral fabrics. It reminds me of a nice summer day having a picnic on the shore of the river. Hello friends! It is that time of the year again, for the annual H2H Comfort Quilts Challenge, hosted by Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict. The quilts are to be donated to a charity of choice for people who are experiencing serious illnesses. This year, I have again chosen to donate my quilt to my local church congregation for one of our help projects. Please continue reading for comments and more info on this quilt.

Average Spring weather. This is my progress on this year's H2H Comfort Quilt Challenge project. Working on some quilting. I had intended to be farther along by now, but life, you all understand. Deciding on whether to do only diagonal quilting or diamond. What would you do? Be sure to go look at all of the great progress the participants are making. Some have already made or are making multiple quilts. Stay tuned to see this one all completed.

Usually, pinks and reds aren't colors that I use very often, but must admit this color is growing on me, lol. The actual Pantone® color name is Viva Magenta. Sometimes the sky reflects a magenta hue near dusk. Have you ever seen that? It is quite remarkable. Did you make something in this luscious color yet? #PantoneQuiltChallenge2023

Here is the back of the quilt, well showing a section of it. That fabric is not Civil War era correct, but is from my stash though. The pattern was fun to sew. 'Decided to not age the muslin, but maybe will later. Thank you Pam for another awesome pattern and quilt along.

Donna posts really great content. 'Already looking at several projects in this book to make. In this world of ebooks, having hard copy ones is still nice. Well it is kinda late at night, but wanted to get the progress on my H2H 2023 quilt posted. This year, my pattern is simple and one that is quite often done- 4 patches. Classic patterns are always popular and useful for many quilts, aren't they? I have visited some who have already linked-up with their progress, and the quilts are all looking so pretty. Much gratitude to Sarah for hosting the yearly event. Planning on finishing this quilt top in a few days and begin quilting and binding. Continue reading for comments.

Still working on the Quadrille quilt along with Carole over at: From My Carolina Home. Here is the latest step. I am still so happy about stash busting some reproduction Civil War era scraps! Plus, this will be another nice little quilt to have. Best of both worlds, right? Wow, some { OK, most } of these fabrics are so old. Past wonderful collections for sure. Can you all see that the background fabric is a white on white floral print? Thanks to Carole for this nice quilt along, and for hosting the Stash Busters event as well. Continue reading for comments.

On another note, I do not know what is wrong with Bloglovin'. All of a sudden, my links no longer work, yet I can log in to my account and see this blog listed and claimed way back in April of 2013. Guess what- most of the blogs that I am trying to follow via Bloglovin', they are also "unavailable" links all of a sudden. The only reason I have not just deleted the account is because of so many followers on there. Apologies for the broken links. Worrying myself nearly sick about it.
