OK, so what is this item?

Good morning dear friends. Just what is that item pictured above? The crew found this under the kitchen sink while remodeling mother's kitchen. Yes, we have had a lot of remodeling going on here lately. The living room was also done, as was mother's bedroom. Actually, I do know what that item is, but the first follower who comments and tells us all what it is will win a little surprise gift! Hint: think vintage. *Updated for another hint: think gender.
