2025 Quilting Goals Review: results

Way back in January, my goals were: "to complete more WIP/UFO quilts and projects. Also in my plan is doing some hand quilting, something that I am not too good at. So, that will be a goal to improve upon. After several years, I am still trying to improve upon paper piecing. Thank you to all who take the time to post tutorials. I also plan on completing 2 instead of the usual 1 quilts for donation to people who are in need." Not quite all of those goals were met, though. Happy New Year 2025!

Wow, 2025 is here! Looking forward to a wonderful 2025, with a positive attitude. Blogging is still a relevant form of social media {although not as popular as it once was}. Here's to another fun year of blogging, with much appreciation for all of you followers and your sweet comments over the past 14 years and 3 months. As far as blogging, this is the 1,000th post on this blog. Yay! Are you also happy for what 2025 will hold?

Happy 14th Blogoversary!

Wow, today is this blog's 14th blogoversary. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of you followers. I've connected with so many quilters, stitchers and crafters. There is always something new to enjoy. You all amaze me with all of your creativity and kindness. I have also learned a lot about quilting, an adventure that I did not begin until around 2013-2014. Thank you so much! This post makes a total of 991 for my blog. The future looks nothing but bright for the coming years of blogging.

Picnic Blog Hop project: completed!

Here is my completed project for the Picnic Party Blog Hop that was hosted by Carol of: Just Let Me Quilt. It is a little quilt that can be used as a snack mat, or a decoration. Look at what I won!

Recently, I won this wonderful book and a cute little pouch (surprise additional gift) from Donna at: Brynwood Needleworks. It was her blog anniversary, and there were several winners. Good morning friends. Today begins the Music Blog Hop, hosted by Carla of Creatin' in the Sticks. Here is my music-themed project. This is the Abbey Road free pdf pattern from: Fancy Tiger Crafts {UPDATE: sadly, as of late 2024, the store is now out of business}. 12 years of blogging!

Wow, today marks 12 years for Homespun Hannah's Blog. Way back in 2010, I wondered if anyone would even notice this blog. What a wonderful surprise that many of you notice and follow. All of the sweet comments are so uplifting, especially with all of the drama in my life in the past three years.

In the beginning, this blog was about primitive style clothing. It evolved into modern stitching, and then quilting. All three are still of interest, although quilting is front-and-center nowadays. Occasionally a bit of other crafting, such as wood and paper sneak in. Sometimes a bit of cooking (not my strongsuit, lol) even slips in. You all always stick with me, and every one of you is very much appreciated. Blogging is truly a blessing to me. So many awesome stitchers, quilters and crafters are out there! Reading your blogs is always fun and interesting. I actually learn a lot from you all. Blogging is "outdated"? Not in my opinion. 'Could not do this at all without you. Sending heartfelt thanks and gratitude. Here's to many more years of blogging, friends.

Where have I been lately?

Goodness, that is quite the question, isn't it? Thank you all for sticking with me. Well, sadly, I have fallen and injured myself a bit. So thankful that nothing is broken, just strained and painful. Hoping to be able to finish the quilted coat and Sweet Stripes quilt next week. Soon it will be Halloween, can you believe it already? To avoid a post with no image, here is an arm cap that I made for my couch recently. Not much to brag about, lol, but it does help to keep the couch arm in great condition. Leather is so nice, but it can be difficult to clean. How has your week been going so far?

Made another cake...

A bit late posting, but here is a cake that I made for Thanksgiving 2021. It turned-out pretty good. It is "straight outta the box", lol. Spice cake with melted maple frosting. This was my first attempt at a two layer cake. My neighbors wanted this, so it was a pleasure to bake and then eat it with them. Blessings.

Some of you asked about it, so Sweet Potato Pie is mostly a Southern US treat, originating from the African American communities long ago during the Civil War era period. In the South, sweet potatoes are easier to farm than pumpkins. Not closely related to potatoes and not the same as yams, they actually belong to the Morning Glory family. Sweet Potato Pie is very similiar to Pumpkin Pie, except a bit creamier. Both pies include many spices in common, such as nutmeg, cinnamon, and pumpkin. Both pies do taste a lot alike. Here in Alabama, most of us love both of these tasty pies, especially with a dash of whipped cream and a cup of hot coffee. 'A bit of history for us! 11th Blogoversary time!

Wow, 11 years of blogging as of today! Apologies for not hosting a 10th Blogoversary last year. Life just got in the way. This year, I have prepared several goodies. Gifts for twin neighbors

These are 2 stuffed dogs that I made for my twin sister neighbors back in February, for their birthdays. The ladies are in their '70's, and are so friendly and kind. At first, it was not easy to tell them apart, as they are identical twins. Being a twin myself, we also have that in common. One of the twins is also married to a man who has a twin, so we are "twins central" over here, ha ha. These dogs are made from a free pattern at: Tilda's World.com, and are called Dapper Dachsunds. Each finished at approx. 18" long, and their underbellies are made of the same printed cotton fabric as their ears. Their bodies are made from cotton flannel in a dark brown color. 'Had a difficult time posing them for their photo shoot, but think this worked well. Now I want to make one for myself! Isn't it an adorable pattern?

Sending happy holidays wishes to you all. Hoping tht you are all safe and well. Wow, it is really cold this morning, in the 20's! No snow though. How do you like my little Christmas tree? It is perfect for an apartment, but hoping to find a 3' one on clearance after the holidays (for next year). Still no new grandson, yet. Maybe he will arrive very soon. In these times of COVID, I am extra mindful of those who are ill, and those who have lost loved ones. Let's remember to wear a mask and to use social distancing during the holidays, as always. 2021 Planning Party

2021 will be here soon, can you believe that? 2020 has been truly a year to experience a lot. As far as quilting and sewing, my 2020 goals were mostly met, lol. This year's goals will be similar to those same goals.

1. Still working on UFOs, and two WIPs. This year has been slow for me, due to health reasons. 'Got to finish soon-to-arrive grandson's baby quilt!

2. Blogging more often. 2020 has seen my absence quite often. Thank all of you for not giving up on me, and staying tuned to this blog. Sewing and quilting will always be very important in my life.

3. Still need to work more on paper piecing skills and learning new quilting designs.

4. Sewing charity quilt blocks and pillowcase dresses will resume.

This blog turned 10 years old back on 26 October. The annual Blogoversary Giveaway did not happen, as did not the Homespun Holidays Giveaway. This really saddens me, and I promise that soon there will be a giveaway to help make-up for all of that. How about you? What are your goals for 2021?

Flip phone case for neighbor

Hello all! Here is a flip phone case that I made for my neighbor. She needed a way to carry the phone without dropping or laying it down in a store somewhere. The case is lined with quilt batting and a solid blue cotton fabric, and the outer fabric is blue print cotton. The front flap fastener is Velcro©. There is a fabric loop to attach the store-bought lanyard to the case. Isn't it cute? I love doing things like this for friends and family, don't you?

Still sewing face masks

Here are some more face masks. Many of the residents in this apartment complex are elderly and at high risk during these COVID-19 times. These were made for people who live here. Some of the masks did not get photographed, but these did. Our town does not have many stores from which to purchase fabric, and now those few stores are nearly sold out. It took a long time to even find some elastic!

I am getting settled-in the new home and dealing better with grieving over the loss of my mother. Most of you all already know that her passing followed just only six months after the passing of my twin sister. So many changes around here. My goal is to be an even stronger and more resilient "Danice v 2.0" in the aftermath. Thank you all again for staying beside me through all of this. Things are getting better! Blessings.
