NCAA pillow: Ole Miss®

Yes, another pillow and cover. They are so addictive! This one is made of Ole Miss® (my alma mater) block fabric. 'Have had the fabric for some years, and finally got this made. The front has walking foot straight line quilting in the thin white block lines (difficult to see in the photo). The backing is solid navy, and is envelope-style. This pillow and cover measure 18" square. What is best about pillow covers is they can easily be changed when desired. Isn't it great that they do not have to match the couch or bed? Contrasting colors/designs add interest.

Custom bulletin board

Last year for Christmas, I made bulletin boards as Christmas gifts. They were all like the one pictured above, featuring their favorite NCAA team's colors. 'Looked online for some tutorials. No push pins required, simply slide the note or photo behind one of the ribbons. Everyone loved these custom boards. 16" X 22" seemed like a good size. They were kinda easy to make. Yes, these family members' favorite NCAA team is Alabama Roll Tide®. Have you ever made anything like this?

It's our birthday!

Kelsey's NCAA gear!

It's that time again- NCAA football season is in full swing. Kelsey is all ready in her Ole Miss® gear (my alma mater). Her white shoes are a good fashion choice. The big hair bow tops it all off. Christmas Ornaments pillows

Hello you all. Pictured above is a cute Christmas pillow that I made for my daughter and her family. This is so modern and chic- they are bound to love it. The free pattern is from: Kathy of: K T Green Designs. Mine came-out to be 15" square. The candy cane binding really makes it pop, doesn't it? Yes, it was supposed to be cut on the bias, but didn't have enough fabric to do that. So, overall, the pillow seems to be a success. Ole Miss® lap quilt completed

Hello friends. Pictured above is a lap quilt made with Ole Miss® print fabric. The pattern is called Simply Rectangles, and is designed by Gudrun Erla. The pattern is included in the book Just Your Style. 'Got lucky and paid only $7.00 instead of $24.99, due to the fact that our local Hancock Fabric Store closed recently. What a shock, as the store had been here for like 40 years. This quilt was a 2 1/2 year project. Ole Miss® is my alma mater, and finding this fabric in Alabama was not going very well. So, Etsy to the rescue! This lap quilt measures 45"X57", with meandering style machine quilting all over. 'Did a different kind of look for the backing- to see it, please keep reading.

Ole Miss® quilt top sewn

So, here is what I have been working on lately. OK, for many months, lol. The pattern is called Simply Rectangles, and is designed by Gudrun Erla. The backing is in the photo, behind the quilt top. It is navy, red, and has a strip of the collegiate logo fabric. I love the simplicity and symmetry of this pattern. It is so perfect for showcasing the NCAA print fabric, including the college's colors. Maybe this quilt will actually be completed this year, in time to snuggle with during the upcoming collegiate football season. 'Will post the completed quilt when it is done. Another jumper for granddaughter

Hello all. 'Hope your Sunday evening is going wonderful. So many thanks to all who wished well for my truck, Raven. Things are looking up. Pictured above is another jumper made from the Simplicity 1568A pattern. This one is made of wide wale corduroy in a deep shade of burgundy. The shoulder buttons are actually printed with a black and white houndstooth design. This is great for my granddaughter, as she and her family are Alabama Roll Tide © fans. A local shop did the white monogrammed "M" on the front, which is granddaughter's initial. 'Forgot to get a photo of the matching black and white houndstooth head band. Hooray for NCAA football!

Soon the new season of NCAA football will begin. Pictured above is an Alabama Roll Tide® pillowcase dress for my granddaughter. This was my first time to sew with the block logos style fabric, and I am well pleased with the outcome. The dress' lower band and shoulder tie are sewn from the official black and white houndstooth print fabric. ~One for myself~

'Finally got the chance to make one for myself: an Ole Miss® hair bow. This is my alma mater (class of 2008), so this hair bow means a lot to me. This fabric was found on a remnants table long before the university's mascot was changed to the black bear. Ole Miss' official colors are Harvard crimson and Yale blue. These choices were made in honor of those fine universities. 'Will definitely be wearing this while watching Ole Miss football games. The annual Egg Bowl is now scheduled for Thanksgiving Day on 28th November in Starkville, MS (home of Mississippi State University). Kick-off will be at 6:30 p.m. CST. Auburn Hair Bow

Good morning friends. Above is another hair bow. This one was made for the granddaughter of 2 friends from high school. The granddaughter's parents are Auburn Tigers® fans, hence the fabric chosen. This is the same baby that I had made the pink gingham dress and head band for a few months ago. Mother's hair stylist is also an Auburn® fan, so made one of these for her too. Hancock's Fabrics had the collegiate fabric at 40% off, so it was the perfect time to purchase. Both will be showing their spirit wearing these bows, won't they?

Thank Heaven for little boys

The above photo is of a bow tie that I made for my great-nephew Linus. Thank Heaven for little boys as well as for little girls. Linus' parents are Alabama Roll Tide® fans, so the 100% wool houndstooth is symbolic of that. The bow tie's closure is Velcro® to provide quick release in the case of snagging. Safety is always of utmost concern with children's clothing/accessories. Since hair bows wouldn't really be appropriate for Linus, a tutorial on You Tube helped me out with this. Fabric- Covered NCAA Metal Cans

Good morning blogging pals! Above is a new idea for metal cans: fabric-covered. The one on the left is in black & white houndstooth with a crimson red gros grain bow because many of my family members are Alabama Roll Tide® fans. Of course, I have to root for my own alma mater, Ole Miss®, lol! 'Rooting for Alabama except when they play Ole Miss. This can will go to my daughter and her family. Shh... don't tell, it's one of their Christmas gifts, lol! The can on the right is Auburn Tigers®. It went my cousin Mike. So, we are "a family divided" when it comes to NCAA teams, lol! Which NCAA teams do you all root for?

Mother and Daughter Hair Bows

Hello all. Here is another idea for hair bows: mother and daughter matching hair bows! The ones pictured above are NCAA Alabama Roll Tide® design. 'Gotta have that official black and white houndstooth included. Hancock's Fabrics had their NCAA/collegiate fabrics 40% off, so it was a great time to get some of this fabric. The houndstooth is 100% wool, which was 50% off with a coupon. These bows are for my lovely daughter Amanda and my precious granddaughter Macey. 'Also made one for my cousin Mike's wife Cathy. They will all be showing their school spirit in style now, won't they?

~A gift in the mail~

My darling granddaughter Macey is pictured above, opening the gift that mother and I mailed to her. We are so glad that my daughter, Amanda, photographed the moment. That pink box was perfect for Macey. What did she get? A new jumper and matching hair bow! My daughter and her family are Alabama Roll Tide® fans, so they really like this gift. It's something that Macey is already 18 months old. Of course, we will see her and her family this Christmas. It is going to be so much fun, especially since it will be the first Christmas that Macey is old enough to remember. Macey's new jumper and matching hair bow are precious. Do you all think that she likes them? Doting granny and great-granny both must add, isn't she just a little darling?
