Bowl cozies

Well, hello friends! Yes, it has been a while. I am back to sewing again, and hoping to be quilting again very soon. These are three bowl cozies that I made for my daughter and her family for Christmas this year. Somehow, one cozy did not get into the photo. The pattern is free, and cannot remember the site that this was on. A lot of my friends say how they love bowl cozies, so it was a new project for me. They are constructed with 100% cotton fabrics, batting, and thread. Have you ever made any of these? They were fun to sew, and my daughter loves them. Wishing you all happy holidays.

Wow, 2025 is here! Looking forward to a wonderful 2025, with a positive attitude. Blogging is still a relevant form of social media {although not as popular as it once was}. Here's to another fun year of blogging, with much appreciation for all of you followers and your sweet comments over the past 14 years and 3 months. As far as blogging, this is the 1,000th post on this blog. Yay! Are you also happy for what 2025 will hold?

Happy Thanksgiving 2024

Happiest Thanksgiving wishes to you all! Belated wishes for my Canadian followers. We celebrated yesterday, and my tater tot casserole was a main dish. See my table runner from Autumn Jubilee 2016 on the table? My daughter and I prepared all of the food. There was also a honey-glazed ham, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, cream-style corn and homestyle dinner rolls. Happy Halloween 2022!

Happy Halloween to all. We have been getting some rain, and that was usually typical when my twin sister and I were children. 'Did not stop us from wanting to go trick-or-treating, though. This is a cute eyeball door hanger from a free pattern by: Carla of Creatin'in the Sticks (tutorial on Thermoweb). The pattern is called I'm Watching You, and is perfect for the season. It measures 6" square, and my hanger is actually three strips of gros-grain ribbon braided for strength. 'Did not have any wide ribbon, so this is a make-do idea. Thank you Carla for this free pattern. My daughter actually has green eyes, just not bloodshot, lol. My own eyes are green with brown, otherwise known as hazel. If you are out and about this afternoon, please be careful and mindful of all around you.

Here Comes the Sun Blog Hop

Here is my project for the Here Comes the Sun Blog Hop, hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt. This is a little zippered bag, approx. 8 1/2" X 6 1/2". The sun is in the upper left top corner, and the design is abstract. The blues represent the ocean or river below. A popular iver is very near to my residence. As children, my twin sister and I used to picnic there often with our parents. 'Hope you all like my little bag. Read on to visit the other bloggers and see their wonderful projects.

Gift for grandson

This is a wood magazine table that I found at a local thrift store. It is 20" X 10 1/2", and was painted white. Keep reading to see what it looked like before the redo.

Tilda cat doll

Good afternoon friends. 'Hope you are all safe and well. The weather here is cooler and cloudy. Well, that is to be expected in the Spring in Alabama. This is another Tilda doll that I made for my great niece last year. The pattern is from: Tilda's World.com, and is free. That fabric the dress is made of, 'wish I had many yards of that one. Great niece Lydia did like the doll.

I actually have been quilting, and have a couple nearly ready to post. The H2H quilt is finished, but awaiting the party to reveal it. Quilting and doll-making, two of my favorite hobbies for sure. Things have been kinda hectic here, but getting better. How have you been doing? Blessings.

Wood craft decor

Good morning friends. These are some dollar store wood decor items that I painted for my grandson's hutch shelf in his nursery. The theme is dinosaurs, so these fit the bill perfectly. The little cars should look cute as well. There is a wide range of colors, and several coats of acrylic paint on each one. Of course, they are all for decor only, due to small parts that can come off (ie the wheels and round spheres). Keep reading for another photo and for comments.

Show Your Stripes Blog Hop: Day 2

Welcome to day 2 of the Show Your Stripes Blog Hop. Not sewing fabrics with stripes very often, this was an extra fun challenge for me. My project is a teddy bear for my new grandson. It is made of fleece, and the nose, paws, ears and tail are a striped cotton fabric. The pattern is from: Purl Soho.com, called Wool + Liberty Teddy Bear. He is approx, 9 1/2" sitting, and hoping grandson loves him. For baby-safety, I appliquéd the eyes instead of using buttons. Be sure to visit all of the other bloggers to see their creations. Baby tie blanket

Have you seen the tie blankets? For a while now, I have considered making one. So, here it is- my first tie blanket! This one is made of fleece, with a navy, grey and white plaid top and a solid navy backing. It measures approx. 40" square, and was really fun to make. It did seem kinda odd, not quilting and all, but we are never to old to learn something new, right? Tie blankets probably won't be something I will make often, but once in a while maybe. Of course, this one is for my new grandson. Have you ever tried your hand at making one of these?

Baby quilt for new grandson!

This is the Rock and Roll baby quilt pattern designed by: Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs. It is perfect for my new grandson Parker, who was born on Dec. 28, 2020. His nursery is decorated in grey and navy, so that is the colorway. The design and fabrics will also work well for when Parker is older. This wall is my new place to photograph quilts. Happy Holidays 2020!

Sending happy holidays wishes to you all. Hoping tht you are all safe and well. Wow, it is really cold this morning, in the 20's! No snow though. How do you like my little Christmas tree? It is perfect for an apartment, but hoping to find a 3' one on clearance after the holidays (for next year). Still no new grandson, yet. Maybe he will arrive very soon. In these times of COVID, I am extra mindful of those who are ill, and those who have lost loved ones. Let's remember to wear a mask and to use social distancing during the holidays, as always. Blessings.

2021 Planning Party

2021 will be here soon, can you believe that? 2020 has been truly a year to experience a lot. As far as quilting and sewing, my 2020 goals were mostly met, lol. This year's goals will be similar to those same goals.

1. Still working on UFOs, and two WIPs. This year has been slow for me, due to health reasons. 'Got to finish soon-to-arrive grandson's baby quilt!

2. Blogging more often. 2020 has seen my absence quite often. Thank all of you for not giving up on me, and staying tuned to this blog. Sewing and quilting will always be very important in my life.

3. Still need to work more on paper piecing skills and learning new quilting designs.

4. Sewing charity quilt blocks and pillowcase dresses will resume.

This blog turned 10 years old back on 26 October. The annual Blogoversary Giveaway did not happen, as did not the Homespun Holidays Giveaway. This really saddens me, and I promise that soon there will be a giveaway to help make-up for all of that. How about you? What are your goals for 2021?

Two new baby bonnets!

Here are two new baby bonnets for the soon-to-arrive grandson. They are both pixie-style free patterns. Don't you just love the little pointed style? So so cute. The one on the left is from Purl Soho: Winter Baby Bonnet is made of wool, and the self-fabric ties are simple under the chin. The black and white buffalo plaid one is from Sweet KM: Blizzard Bonnet is cotton with fleece lining. It has two narrow under the chin ties. Both are newborn size. Hoping daughter and son-in-law love these. Have you ever made any baby bonnets or hats?

Progress on grandson's quilt

Here is a sneak peek at the quilt for my grandson, who is due in December. Scrappy, and my daughter has seen the fabrics and loves them. Hoping to get this all finished really soon. At first, I wanted to do a white background but decided on the grey. September is National Sewing Month, so this counts, right? What are you working on?

Baby boy arriving in December!

Guess what friends! I have a new grandson, arriving in December! Wow, how blessed am I? Already have one grandson, and one granddaughter. Three will make it even better! These are stuffed fleece dinosaurs, and a decorated wooden frame. Daughter and family are decorating the nursery in navy and grey, with dinosaurs, so these should fit right in with the theme.
