Bowl cozies

Well, hello friends! Yes, it has been a while. I am back to sewing again, and hoping to be quilting again very soon. These are three bowl cozies that I made for my daughter and her family for Christmas this year. Somehow, one cozy did not get into the photo. The pattern is free, and cannot remember the site that this was on. A lot of my friends say how they love bowl cozies, so it was a new project for me. They are constructed with 100% cotton fabrics, batting, and thread. Have you ever made any of these? They were fun to sew, and my daughter loves them. Wishing you all happy holidays.

Happy 4th of July wishes to you all. This is a little pin keep that I made from block #51 in Kathleen Tracy's book Schoolgirl Sampler. It is named Patriotic. Perfect for today's holiday. 'Never can have too many pinkeeps, right? Do you ever make any patriotic projects?

Wow, 2025 is here! Looking forward to a wonderful 2025, with a positive attitude. Blogging is still a relevant form of social media {although not as popular as it once was}. Here's to another fun year of blogging, with much appreciation for all of you followers and your sweet comments over the past 14 years and 3 months. As far as blogging, this is the 1,000th post on this blog. Yay! Are you also happy for what 2025 will hold?

Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange 2024

This table runner is from a pattern called Santa Surprise by Disa Designs. The website is no longer online, and the pattern was actually quite difficult to locate. {Especially not knowing the pattern's title}. Searching with the image got the results, eventually. The Santas and trees are machine zig-zagged appliqués. The runner was lenghtened by adding a few extra horizintal background strips. 'Wanted to make this runner for a really long time. Here are this table runner's stats:

♦ dimensions: 16.50" X 50" {before washing and drying}

♦ fabrics: 100% cotton fabrics, mostly from my stash

♦ backing: 100% cotton red print fabric

♦ batting: Warm N' Natural©

♦ quilting: machine-stitched free motion meandering and zig-zagged machine appliquéing with matching thread colors

♦ binding: 100% cotton fabric, solid dark green, machine and hand-stitched

♥ Completed WIP/UFO quilts in 2024: 10 ♥

Happy Thanksgiving 2024

Happiest Thanksgiving wishes to you all! Belated wishes for my Canadian followers. We celebrated yesterday, and my tater tot casserole was a main dish. See my table runner from Autumn Jubilee 2016 on the table? My daughter and I prepared all of the food. There was also a honey-glazed ham, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, cream-style corn and homestyle dinner rolls. Something Wicked Blog Hop: Gourdon

Meet Gourdon. He is all ready for Halloween and Autumn with his gourd head and cute attire. He is my project for the Something Wicked Blog Hop, hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt. Do you think that he is OK to sit out in the room any time of the year? His face is hand-painted {a skill that I am still trying to improve at}. The entire doll is coffee-stained. Happy Easter 2024

Happy Easter! Today is also the last day of National Quilting Month. This is another doll from a Sanker Studios pattern. The title is B is for Bunny, and I have named mine Beatrice. She is approx. 23" from tip of her ears to toes, and wears a pink dress with white geometric print. My favorite part of her emsemble is her furry, muslin-lined bunny hood. Isn't it adorable? Monster Mash Blog Hop: day 2

Good morning to you all! Today is day 2 of the Monster Mash Blog Hop. This is well, part of my project. Due to having fallen and wearing an arm brace, I did not finish the rest of my project. Many apologies. The metal can is hand-painted and is decorated with a crow label (graphic: Graphics Fairy) . I speckled some vintage white paint to make the can look a bit aged. Happy Halloween 2022!

Happy Halloween to all. We have been getting some rain, and that was usually typical when my twin sister and I were children. 'Did not stop us from wanting to go trick-or-treating, though. This is a cute eyeball door hanger from a free pattern by: Carla of Creatin'in the Sticks (tutorial on Thermoweb). The pattern is called I'm Watching You, and is perfect for the season. It measures 6" square, and my hanger is actually three strips of gros-grain ribbon braided for strength. 'Did not have any wide ribbon, so this is a make-do idea. Thank you Carla for this free pattern. My daughter actually has green eyes, just not bloodshot, lol. My own eyes are green with brown, otherwise known as hazel. If you are out and about this afternoon, please be careful and mindful of all around you.

Happy Easter friends! 'Hope your day is bright and sunny. This is a doll from a pattern called Daffodil & Carrot, designed by Brenda Jett Sanker. Actually, there are two dolls, as Daffodil has her baby Carrot on her arm.

Made another cake...

A bit late posting, but here is a cake that I made for Thanksgiving 2021. It turned-out pretty good. It is "straight outta the box", lol. Spice cake with melted maple frosting. This was my first attempt at a two layer cake. My neighbors wanted this, so it was a pleasure to bake and then eat it with them. Blessings.

Ghastly Ghouls Blog Hop 2021

Today is my day on the Ghastly Ghouls Blog Hop, and here is a very Autumn-themed witch doll. She is approx. 32" tall, and her face is hand-painted. The braided hair is black roving wool. This is a pattern that I had wanted to make for a long while, and finally did just that. Her [new] name is Ezra, and she wears her bottle of witches' potion around her neck. Happy Holidays 2020!

Sending happy holidays wishes to you all. Hoping tht you are all safe and well. Wow, it is really cold this morning, in the 20's! No snow though. How do you like my little Christmas tree? It is perfect for an apartment, but hoping to find a 3' one on clearance after the holidays (for next year). Still no new grandson, yet. Maybe he will arrive very soon. In these times of COVID, I am extra mindful of those who are ill, and those who have lost loved ones. Let's remember to wear a mask and to use social distancing during the holidays, as always. Happy Thanksgiving wishes to you all! My how time seems to fly, doesn't it? I have not been online much lately, due to some health issues with my back these past few months. Feeling a lot better now.

This is a wedding rings appliquéd pillow that I made for a soon-to-be-married couple. It measures approx. 14" X 12". The back is an envelope style, in solid grey cotton fabric. The quilting is a meandering style, done on the machine. This makes a total of four quilted pillows in 2020. Hoping the couple loves this pillow!

Happiest Easter wishes to you all. Here it is all rainy and stormy. Even if there were no COVID-19 danger, kiddos surely could not hunt eggs in this weather. Expecting more thunderstorms later this evening, too. 'Been busy sewing Camden Road quilt blocks and staying home, except for occasional food store adventures. Finding hand sanitizer is still impossible. 'Glad I had bought some before this all began. Hoping you all are safe and happy, and able to get the supplies that you need. Happy Valentine's Day 2020

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! 'Almost forgot that it is today. This is a hearts fabric quilted tablet case I made for my granddaughter back in 2016. Looking back, 'should have made a webbed carrying strap. Maybe they can bring it back and I can sew one on while they visit. Granddaughter loves hot pink, so she does love this case. I am so far behind on sewing and quilting... Hoping to get back on track in March. About all that has been done lately is my projects for the upcoming Color It Red Blog Hop hosted by Just Let Me Quilt. Stay tuned for that event to begin on the 17th February.
