Happy Easter 2024

Happy Easter! Today is also the last day of National Quilting Month. This is another doll from a Sanker Studios pattern. The title is B is for Bunny, and I have named mine Beatrice. She is approx. 23" from tip of her ears to toes, and wears a pink dress with white geometric print. My favorite part of her emsemble is her furry, muslin-lined bunny hood. Isn't it adorable? Project Quilting: 15.6: Irish Chain

Good morning friends! 'Time for the final Project Quilting Season 15 Challenge: Irish Chain. My little quilt is made mostly of fabric scraps, and green is my favorite color. For some reason, the Irish Chain pattern always seemed like one that would be super difficult to make. Surprisingly, it was not. So, this Challenge was truly important to me. It is always good to be able to learn a new quilt pattern, isn't it?

Give It A Whirl Blog Hop

Welcome to the Give It A Whirl Blog Hop, hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt. Today is the final day, and I hope you like my project. This is a free pattern from Carolina at Always Expect More, titled: Sewlebrity Quilt Block Tote. What I love is that you can choose any 12 1/2" sewn quilt block pattern for the front. In keeping with the whirl theme of the blog hop, I chose the: Martha Washington Star block from Tara Reed. The main bag is ink navy, with white-on-white hex print and solid grey accents. Project Quilting 15.5: Wearables

For this Challenge, the projects must feature wearables- clothing apparel or accessories. Maybe an article of clothing repurposed into a quilt. Or an actual garment (clothing). When I began sewing, it was apparel and then costumes for the theatre stage {my BFA major in college}. As my grandchildren have gotten older, they prefer "store-bought" clothing, you know how that goes, lol.

Back to the Challenge. We can choose to make a quilt that is somehow representative of wearables. The project doesn't have to be a quilt though. My project is a little quilt that features Sunbonnet Sue and Suspender Sam. The patterns are from a book by Eleanor Burns {that I purchased many years ago} titled Sunbonnet Sue Visits Quilt in a Day®, ©1992. This little quilt is based upon Patricia Knoechel's wall quilt {on the book's inside back cover, titled Springtime}. Back in 2014-15, I made the full-size bed quilt for my granddaughter. Quadrille: more fabric piecing

Still working on the Quadrille quilt along with Carole over at: From My Carolina Home. Here is the latest step. I am still so happy about stash busting some reproduction Civil War era scraps! Plus, this will be another nice little quilt to have. Best of both worlds, right? Wow, some { OK, most } of these fabrics are so old. Past wonderful collections for sure. Welcome Spring quilt top

Good morning friends. This little quilt top is from the Welcome Spring quilt along going on over at: Heartspun Quilts. This pattern is wonderful for stash busting those reproduction Civil War Era fabrics. 'Still "auditioning" backing fabrics and am going to swap-out a couple of the squares for other color fabrics. It just bothers me if two fabrics alike or similiar are close to each other in the layout. Does that bother you? 'Will be finishing this one as soon as possible. The background is muslin, and deciding whether to age it. Would you, or not? It is not too late to join in on this fun event. Today is perfect sewing weather, as it has been raining a lot. Quilting Check In- Quilting JET Girl

A bit late reporting, but so far in 2023 I have not completed many works. This is a little quilted mat for my TV remote. It was originally half of a block for the What Is Love? event, but was too large. Rather than waste the fabrics, I made another block and repurposed this half. The pattern is called Mirroring and is designed by Anna of @waxandwanestudio. 'Almost finished with the What Is Love? quilt top, so stay tuned for that soon. This little mat is only my 3rd finish for 2023. Measures 9 1/2" X 14 1/2" and has minimal walking foot machine quilting. I do have several other works in progress, including a monthly color challenge and a quilt along. Prize from Project Quilting 14

Project Quilting 14 was super fun, as always, this year. For the week 3 Challenge. I won this beautiful fragrant candle from: Kim Lapacek, made by Wisco Home Goods. Green Spring-time quilt

This is a little quilt that I decided to make for Spring, and Easter. It is wholecloth, and has five pastel-colored buttons sewn to the front edge for decoration. It was sewn right-sides-together and then quilted, which formed a mock binding.

Salt & Sand Blog Hop: Day 1

Good morning, bright and early, to all of you. Welcome to Day 1 of the Salt & Sand Blog Hop. My creation is this little quilted wall hanging, featuring "kissing fish" and the sandy ocean floor. 'See the lone starfish lying there? 'Reminds me of the Gulf of Mexico in Florida, from family vacations many years ago. Those salt waters can be many shades of greens and blues. The vibrant batik fabrics work so well for aquatic quilts, don't they? This little quilt measures approx. 12" X 16", and it is machine quilted with walking-foot echo lines and a decorative machine stitched wavy line. Braided table runner

Back in 2017, I won a Morris Earthly Paradise jelly roll from: Barbara of Civil War Quilts Blog. Last year, I completed a rail fence quilt with most of the strips. Most of the rest were sewn into this braided table runner. Is that the same as herringbone pattern? Yes, it was a UFO for a long time. These fabrics are definitely some of the most gorgeous ever aren't they? They are reproduction fabrics reminiscent of the 1874-1910 Art Nouveau era. Here are this table runner's stats:

♦ fabrics: Morris Earthly Paradise by Barbara Brackman for Moda Fabrics

♦ backing: pieced- grey with black floral print, and some Earthly Paradise jelly roll strips

Jelly Roll Waves: finished quilt

Finally finished my Jelly Roll Waves quilt. After Janice passed away, I just did not have the heart to sew or quilt for many weeks. Getting back in the groove now, slowly but surely. This was a really fun quilt-along, featuring a very nice pattern that includes multiple sizes. Even though it appears larger, this is the 40" square baby size. My Favorite Quilt Block: Blog Hop

Welcome to another day on the: Creatin' in the Sticks- My Favorite Quilt Block Blog Hop! This is my favorite quilt block- the Ribbon Star. Although an old pattern, contemporary fabrics make it a fresh modern spin on the traditional Sawtooth Star. I made some last summer for the Covered in Love July block drive, and fell in love with the block.

Happy Quilting Day! This is a table topper that I made for my daughter, Amanda, a few years ago. It is called Winter Seeds, and is a free pattern from: The Crafty Quilter. Amanda made this photo of the topper on their dining room table. It is always such a pleasure to sew and quilt for family, isn't it? What have you been working on lately?

Quilted sewing machine cover

Finally, this item is finished. It was cut-out long ago. This sewing machine cover is made of stash fabrics, and measures 19 1/2" across X 30" long X 10 " wide on the sides. The main fabric is a tan color.The front fabrics are raw-edge appliquéd. Maybe now the dust will stay away from my machine. Have you ever made a sewing machine cover? Here are this project's stats:
