2025 Quilting Goals Review: results

Way back in January, my goals were: "to complete more WIP/UFO quilts and projects. Also in my plan is doing some hand quilting, something that I am not too good at. So, that will be a goal to improve upon. After several years, I am still trying to improve upon paper piecing. Thank you to all who take the time to post tutorials. I also plan on completing 2 instead of the usual 1 quilts for donation to people who are in need." Not quite all of those goals were met, though. Completed: Civil War Mini Quilt 2025

This is my completed quilt for The Civil War Mini Quilt Challenge 2025 at: Kathleen Tracy's Facebook Group. As you can see in this photo, I just was not happy with my choice of sashing fabric. So, 'changed it to the same fabric as the borders. In my years of quilting, I have found that it is usually better to just go ahead and make a change instead of looking at the completed quilt and always wishing that a change would have been made. It is so much easier to makle a change before the quilt is all finished, isn't it? Please continue reading for this little quilt's stats.

#2025 Quilting Planning Party

Joining in on the 2025 Quilting Planning Party again this year, hosted by Yvonne at Quilting JETGirl. Last year was fairly productive for me, with 7 completed quilts + 3 mug mats {which I counted as a total of 10 completed quilts as they are all quilted}. There were also 3 dolls, 2 pillows, and 1 bag/tote.

In 2025 my plan is to complete more WIP/UFO quilts and projects. There are so many, lol. Also in my plan is doing some hand quilting, something that I am not too good at. So, that will be a goal to improve upon. After several years, I am still trying to improve upon paper piecing. Thank you to all who take the time to post tutorials. I also plan on completing 2 instead of the usual 1 quilts for donation to people who are in need.

Of course, planning to blog more often with more visiting your blogs and posting on this blog. Last year included some health problems for me, but now things are a bit better. 'Just have to slow down and not overwork myself. There will likely be some additional goals added to this list as the year progresses. Wow, 2025 is here! Looking forward to a wonderful 2025, with a positive attitude. Blogging is still a relevant form of social media {although not as popular as it once was}. Here's to another fun year of blogging, with much appreciation for all of you followers and your sweet comments over the past 14 years and 3 months. As far as blogging, this is the 1,000th post on this blog. Yay! Are you also happy for what 2025 will hold?

Happy 14th Blogoversary!

Wow, today is this blog's 14th blogoversary. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of you followers. I've connected with so many quilters, stitchers and crafters. There is always something new to enjoy. You all amaze me with all of your creativity and kindness. I have also learned a lot about quilting, an adventure that I did not begin until around 2013-2014. Thank you so much! This post makes a total of 991 for my blog. The future looks nothing but bright for the coming years of blogging.

Something Wicked Blog Hop: Gourdon

Meet Gourdon. He is all ready for Halloween and Autumn with his gourd head and cute attire. He is my project for the Something Wicked Blog Hop, hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt. Do you think that he is OK to sit out in the room any time of the year? His face is hand-painted {a skill that I am still trying to improve at}. The entire doll is coffee-stained. Old thread spools

These are some old wood spools that I found at a thrift store many years ago. Some of them got posted, but the ones in the front row (the smaller ones) did not. Isn't it funny how some things can by accident get overlooked? This photograph was originally to be a blog header, but that never happened (lol). 'Hoping that you all are having a wonderful day. Thank you for all of the sweet comments and visits to this blog. Regardless of what the world might say, blogging is still popular.

Look at what I won!

Recently, I won this wonderful book and a cute little pouch (surprise additional gift) from Donna at: Brynwood Needleworks. It was her blog anniversary, and there were several winners. Donna's blog is one that I have been following for many years, and if you have not yet you should go read her blog. Donna posts really great content. Quadrille: more fabric piecing

Still working on the Quadrille quilt along with Carole over at: From My Carolina Home. Here is the latest step. I am still so happy about stash busting some reproduction Civil War era scraps! Plus, this will be another nice little quilt to have. Best of both worlds, right? Wow, some { OK, most } of these fabrics are so old. Past wonderful collections for sure. 12 years of blogging!

Wow, today marks 12 years for Homespun Hannah's Blog. Way back in 2010, I wondered if anyone would even notice this blog. What a wonderful surprise that many of you notice and follow. All of the sweet comments are so uplifting, especially with all of the drama in my life in the past three years.

In the beginning, this blog was about primitive style clothing. It evolved into modern stitching, and then quilting. All three are still of interest, although quilting is front-and-center nowadays. Occasionally a bit of other crafting, such as wood and paper sneak in. Sometimes a bit of cooking (not my strongsuit, lol) even slips in. You all always stick with me, and every one of you is very much appreciated. Blogging is truly a blessing to me. So many awesome stitchers, quilters and crafters are out there! Reading your blogs is always fun and interesting. I actually learn a lot from you all. Blogging is "outdated"? Not in my opinion. 'Could not do this at all without you. Sending heartfelt thanks and gratitude. Here's to many more years of blogging, friends.

Where have I been lately?

Goodness, that is quite the question, isn't it? Thank you all for sticking with me. Well, sadly, I have fallen and injured myself a bit. So thankful that nothing is broken, just strained and painful. Hoping to be able to finish the quilted coat and Sweet Stripes quilt next week. Soon it will be Halloween, can you believe it already? To avoid a post with no image, here is an arm cap that I made for my couch recently. Not much to brag about, lol, but it does help to keep the couch arm in great condition. Leather is so nice, but it can be difficult to clean. How has your week been going so far?

A look back at 2021

Although late, I am looking back at 2021. What a year that was. Cannot beieve it is already April 1st, can you? 'Did not get nearly as many quilts finished as planned, but thankful for what was completed. So sorry to have missed the #PlanningParty from Yvonne at Quilting JET Girl. Better late than never, in 2021 6 quilts were completed, 4 mug mats, 4 placemats, 2 pillows, 9 dolls, 8 wood crafts, 7 cards, 2 baby clothing items, 2 pin keeps, 1 purse, and finally 1 cake was baked.

What have I been working on lately? This photo is a sneak-peek. Well,it is for a Challenge. Not the colors I usually work with, but why not try new colors? Do you ever do that? Now that 2022 has arrived, let's all pray for a better year that the previous two. Hoping that you are all staying safe and well. Stay tuned to see what my latest project looks like all finished. Some of you asked about it, so Sweet Potato Pie is mostly a Southern US treat, originating from the African American communities long ago during the Civil War era period. In the South, sweet potatoes are easier to farm than pumpkins. Not closely related to potatoes and not the same as yams, they actually belong to the Morning Glory family. Sweet Potato Pie is very similiar to Pumpkin Pie, except a bit creamier. Both pies include many spices in common, such as nutmeg, cinnamon, and pumpkin. Both pies do taste a lot alike. Here in Alabama, most of us love both of these tasty pies, especially with a dash of whipped cream and a cup of hot coffee. 'A bit of history for us!
