Gremlins, Ghouls and Goblins Blog Hop- Day 3

Good morning friends. Welcome to Day 3 of the Gremlins, Ghouls and Goblins Blog Hop, hosted by Joan at Moose Stash Quilting. Three of my projects are finished, and one is pictured with what is completed. First is the paper mache Haunted House. I have had it a few years, just never painted it. Now it is all spooky and ready for Halloween. Next is the little round paper mache box, painted black with spider web stamping and an orange lid. Then is the painted skeleton pumpkin. It was originally orange, and is now black and white. The unfinished project is the table runner. It still needs to be quilted, and will be getting that today and tomorrow. Spring Tidings Swap 2015

Hello friends. Recently I participated in the Spring Tidings Swap at Bumblebee Lane Cottage. My partner was Michelle of: Simple Pleasures Blog. Pictured above are the wonderful items that she sent to me: an 8X10 framed black rabbit on canvas, an Amish book full of whimsical Pennsylvania Dutch expressions and terminology, a cute book marker, a cross-stitched "Welcome" house with red hearts in a circular frame, a rusty tin can with a battery light candle and aged sheet music What A Friend, a little chocolate felt bunny inside a craft paper box, a burlap pocket with a black felt key decoration and full of red flowers, a navy checked homespun pillow with a cute blue bird appliqué, a small woven frame with a Springtime graphic inside, a patriotic heart-shaped craft box full of mug coasters, a ceramic blue bird, a ceramic white bunny, a word art wood plaque with the letters "Spring", a wood heart-shaped bowl full of painted white and pink Easter eggs, and a pack of chalkboard-looking word art stickers. Thrifty Thursday: vegetables in a bottle

Look at the two items that I found at a local thrift store: a little glass jar of vegetables and a cute damask box. Both items were at really great prices, too: .50¢ each. I have always loved the veggies in a bottle. So, are they real or fake, lol! Either way, this will look good in a kitchen. The damask box, well, 'just thought it was really pretty. It will be a good what-not. Tomorrow is the Spring solstice, and warmer weather will arrive soon. These items remind me of nice Spring weather. Prim blessings to you all.

~Thrifty Thursday...boxes!~

Good morning friends. Happy Thrifty Thursday to you all. Above are several holidays-themed boxes that were found at a dollar store, on clearance three days after Christmas 2013. One of my loves, yes, 'gotta have some decorated boxes! They were from $1.00 to $2.00 each, and one is even my favorite color: green. The ones with the ribbon bow are kinda my favorite, as far as style goes. The green one with the holidays wording is the favorite for color-wise. Do you bargain-hunt at dollar stores or collect any boxes?

~Sewing box for Amanda~

This is a sewing box that I customized for my daughter, Amanda. Inside are some basic sewing notions that she may find to be handy. Plus, they will be stored neatly in a nice decorative box. Maybe this will encourage her to start sewing more? Amanda loves the color pink, so this box just screamed out her name to me, lol! Amanda and family will be visiting this month. Spare Buttons Box DIY

Good morning, prim friends. Above is a little DIY craft that is my own idea. Every time I sew an outfit for my granddaughter Macey, it includes spare buttons. How many times have we placed buttons somewhere and thought we could easily find them later? Especially if a person does not sew, and has no place to keep notions and such, this can happen. So, why not have a storage box that is pretty enough to be displayed out in the open where it can easily be located? Since my daughter does not sew, one box contains needles and thread. The boxes are paper mache, found at most craft stores for like $1.00 each, and are covered with fabric and ribbons, and a few buttons. A glue stick and a few dabs of liquid glue secures it all. Just "wrap" the box and lid like wrapping gift boxes. The brown letters are stickers, found at many craft stores or even a dollar store, which is where these were found. When finished, lightly spray the box and lid separately with a clear acrylic matte coating and let dry completely. Allow at least one hour. If any of you make one, I'd love to see your creation. Just a little box

This is just a little box that I decorated with crafting paper and small wooden letters. It now matches the decor in my living room area, and DSG is my initials. At first, it was going to be to hold pencils, but is really too small for that. So, now it is simply a decoration. The olive green ribbon around the bottom adds a sewing attitude, doesn't it? It looks kinda retro '60's.

~Christmas Mice~

Hello, friends. I absolutely adore Christmas mice, so decided to try my hand at making some. These are from the Burda #4231 pattern, now discontinued. The pattern includes three sizes: 6", 10", and 14" mice. These two are the 6" ones. I added a dress under the girl's pinafore, and a shirt under the boy's waistcoat. Before arthritis, my work would have looked better. These turned-out fairly nice, don't you think? Do you all love Christmas mice?

More paper mache boxes!

More paper mache boxes! Yeah, since this is a relatively easy craft to do, I have become a bit hooked. They were on sale for 30% off at Hobby Lobby. Now this makes a total of 11 boxes. These are painted with acrylic paints, with a brush. These boxes have an additive in the paint that makes it crackle. By the way, 'found out later that the same effect can be accomplished with a thin coat of liquid white glue over the dried acrylic. Note of interest: paper mache is French for chewed paper. Were you aware of that, or the glue?

Stacking boxes finally finished!

Remember my post about the 6 stacking boxes? Well, I have finally got those all painted. Since my hands are not very steady any more, I was hesitating about decorating them with art. So, I applied prim images. The boxes are crackled for an aged look. I simply love crackling and aging prim items. So, do y'all think these boxes turned out OK?

Craft boxes ideas?

These 6 craft boxes have been around for over a year, and are still not decorated. There are two small ones, two medium, and two large boxes. Any ideas of scenes that could be painted on them? Simple designs would be best, since arthritis often limits me. How about a sheep, saltbox house, and maybe a prim star? What are some of your ideas? It will likely take me a while to complete these, but as soon as they are done photos will be posted.
