Project Quilting 15.4 Challenge

Hello friends. Here is my creation for the Project Quilting 15.4 Challenge: hourglass. The creations do not have to be the actual hourglass block, but I chose to use it. Of course using green, my favorite color. This little spool wall decor quilt measures approx. 9.75" square, and is machine quilted with walking foot echo design. It was sewn RST together and then flipped, creating a "mock binding". There are two dowel pockets on the back top corners for hanging. Now I want to make more of these blocks to make a larger quilt. The title is Hourglass Spool. There are so many awesome projects, so be sure to visit and see them all. Project Quilting is always so much fun!

White Rabbit Blog Hop!

Good morning blog friends, "new" and "older"! Welcome to day 2 of the White Rabbit Blog Hop. There are so many fabulous creations already posted, wow! What a fun hop. Here is my project. It isn't completed, but will be soon. He is a white bunny rabbit, made of 100% cotton fabrics. 'Wanted to make him of wool felt, but couldn't get to the store with all of the snow and ice. He is 14" tall, and has an embroidered and painted face. 'Think his name will be Anders. He wears a green and white pinstripe romper. I had not heard of the tale of the white rabbit bringing good luck, but maybe he will and clear up the weather. This is a free pattern from Purl Soho titled: Soft Woolen Bunny. Monster Mash Blog Hop: day 2

Good morning to you all! Today is day 2 of the Monster Mash Blog Hop. This is well, part of my project. Due to having fallen and wearing an arm brace, I did not finish the rest of my project. Many apologies. The metal can is hand-painted and is decorated with a crow label (graphic: Graphics Fairy) . I speckled some vintage white paint to make the can look a bit aged. Welcome Autumn 2023!

Way back in 2018, I participated in the Autumn Jubilee hosted by Carole of: From My Carolina Home. The stitch along was for a wool pumpkin, and I made mine into this little flower pocket. Somehow, 'never got posted on this blog. Carole even mentioned the pocket on her blog {belated thank you} in a wrap-up post. Now, some 5 years later, here it is. Wishing all of you a happy first day of the Autumn solstice. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons. Is the weather cooler where you live?

Quilting Check In- Quilting JET Girl

A bit late reporting, but so far in 2023 I have not completed many works. This is a little quilted mat for my TV remote. It was originally half of a block for the What Is Love? event, but was too large. Rather than waste the fabrics, I made another block and repurposed this half. The pattern is called Mirroring and is designed by Anna of @waxandwanestudio. 'Almost finished with the What Is Love? quilt top, so stay tuned for that soon. This little mat is only my 3rd finish for 2023. Measures 9 1/2" X 14 1/2" and has minimal walking foot machine quilting. I do have several other works in progress, including a monthly color challenge and a quilt along. Prize from Project Quilting 14

Project Quilting 14 was super fun, as always, this year. For the week 3 Challenge. I won this beautiful fragrant candle from: Kim Lapacek, made by Wisco Home Goods. Kim along with a few other ladies hosts Project Quilting every year, and the Challenges are always creative. They have even included three metal PQ buttons in the gift box! Happy Halloween 2022!

Happy Halloween to all. We have been getting some rain, and that was usually typical when my twin sister and I were children. 'Did not stop us from wanting to go trick-or-treating, though. This is a cute eyeball door hanger from a free pattern by: Carla of Creatin'in the Sticks (tutorial on Thermoweb). The pattern is called I'm Watching You, and is perfect for the season. It measures 6" square, and my hanger is actually three strips of gros-grain ribbon braided for strength. 'Did not have any wide ribbon, so this is a make-do idea. Thank you Carla for this free pattern. My daughter actually has green eyes, just not bloodshot, lol. My own eyes are green with brown, otherwise known as hazel. If you are out and about this afternoon, please be careful and mindful of all around you.

Where have I been lately?

Goodness, that is quite the question, isn't it? Thank you all for sticking with me. Well, sadly, I have fallen and injured myself a bit. So thankful that nothing is broken, just strained and painful. Hoping to be able to finish the quilted coat and Sweet Stripes quilt next week. Soon it will be Halloween, can you believe it already? To avoid a post with no image, here is an arm cap that I made for my couch recently. Not much to brag about, lol, but it does help to keep the couch arm in great condition. Leather is so nice, but it can be difficult to clean. How has your week been going so far?

Wonderful World of Color: clock

Welcome to my project for the Wonderful World of Color Blog Hop. This clock is from a pattern by: Holly Clarke Design.com, and is called Quilt O'Clock. Isn't that clever? So my clock is made from my fabric stash, and is hanging in the sewing area. The clock is 12" diameter, and has a chrome bezel. I was concerned about getting the clock hands back on correctly, and luckily they do work and keep perfect time. Please continue reading for more Blog Hop info.

Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange 2021

Hello friends! Welcome to day 2 of the: Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange at Just Let Me Quilt. My projects are first, this Sallie Snowblls doll. She is made from a pattern by Sanker Studios, and was so much fun to make. She is holding a little wooden snowflake, and wears a red holidays hat with a jingle bell atop. Notice that her shoes also have jingle bells.

In the Kitchen Stitchin' Blog Hop!

Welcome to the final day of the In the Kitchen Stitchin' Blog Hop. So thankful to Carla of Creatin' in the Sticks for hosting this super fun event. My project is these five Homestead Life collection panels that were won in 2020 from: Tara Reed, who is also the fabric and pattern designer. I did post about them back then, and now finally have them all finished. Sadly, in the move to this apartment, one of the panels got lost (there were six). It had a pig on it. 'Had to make two photos to get them all in the scene. Don't you just love these? Each is quilted with minimal walking-foot quilting (one vertical line near the outer edges of each center image and around the outer edges of each mat). 'Thought that too much quilting might distract from the beautiful printed images. They have Warm N' Natural© batting inside. The backings are muslin, and each mat measures 11" X 18". Wood craft decor

Good morning friends. These are some dollar store wood decor items that I painted for my grandson's hutch shelf in his nursery. The theme is dinosaurs, so these fit the bill perfectly. The little cars should look cute as well. There is a wide range of colors, and several coats of acrylic paint on each one. Of course, they are all for decor only, due to small parts that can come off (ie the wheels and round spheres). Keep reading for another photo and for comments.

Gifts for twin neighbors

These are 2 stuffed dogs that I made for my twin sister neighbors back in February, for their birthdays. The ladies are in their '70's, and are so friendly and kind. At first, it was not easy to tell them apart, as they are identical twins. Being a twin myself, we also have that in common. One of the twins is also married to a man who has a twin, so we are "twins central" over here, ha ha. These dogs are made from a free pattern at: Tilda's World.com, and are called Dapper Dachsunds. Each finished at approx. 18" long, and their underbellies are made of the same printed cotton fabric as their ears. Their bodies are made from cotton flannel in a dark brown color. 'Had a difficult time posing them for their photo shoot, but think this worked well. Now I want to make one for myself! Isn't it an adorable pattern?

Project Quilting: Challenge 5

Challenge 5 of Project Quilting is themed on the historical crazy quilt concept. These quilts were for decoration instead of being used as bed coverings. They featured rich, luscious fine fabrics with fancy stitching, and other embellishments. This is my project, a 10" square candle mat. The fabrics are from Barbara Brackman's exquisite collection Earthly Paradise, which I won a few years ago. 'Already made a rail fence quilt and a braided table runner, so these remnants worked perfectly for this project. A machine-sewn feather stitch of mustard-colored thread was used on all of the patchwork seams. Sending thanks Kim for this fun and really educational Challenge!

Happy Holidays 2020!

Sending happy holidays wishes to you all. Hoping tht you are all safe and well. Wow, it is really cold this morning, in the 20's! No snow though. How do you like my little Christmas tree? It is perfect for an apartment, but hoping to find a 3' one on clearance after the holidays (for next year). Still no new grandson, yet. Maybe he will arrive very soon. In these times of COVID, I am extra mindful of those who are ill, and those who have lost loved ones. Let's remember to wear a mask and to use social distancing during the holidays, as always. Happy Thanksgiving 2020

Happy Thanksgiving wishes to you all! My how time seems to fly, doesn't it? I have not been online much lately, due to some health issues with my back these past few months. Feeling a lot better now.

This is a wedding rings appliquéd pillow that I made for a soon-to-be-married couple. It measures approx. 14" X 12". The back is an envelope style, in solid grey cotton fabric. The quilting is a meandering style, done on the machine. This makes a total of four quilted pillows in 2020. Hoping the couple loves this pillow!

That's one big pillow!

Wow, what a big pillow! This is something I have wanted to make for a while now. Living in an apartment, seating is kinda limited, so this large floor pillow should be very appealing to my young granddaughter. (Notice in the olive chair one of the couch pillows that I also made some years ago). The upholstery fabrics are olive with white and brown in a fun geometric design. The side edges are that same fabric except in a mustard yellow background. There are big buttons in the center, and a carrying handle on the top edge. This floor pillow measures approx. 26" diameter with 5 1/4" fluffy depth. That should be enough, shouldn't it? Floor pillows are modern and creative seating. Have you ever made one?

My new front door

Well good early morning all! Yes, I am finally back. This moving, even though just a few blocks, has truly been physically and emotionally taxing on me. My daughter and her husband moved the heavy stuff, and I got the rest. Since losing my only sibling seven months ago, everything was left to me to decide what to keep. Pressure for sure. Here is my new front door. Of course it incorporates quilting. 'Remember the Tucker quilt along from Pam at Heartspun Quilts Blog a few years ago? This is that little quilt. The door is inside in a secure hallway. We have to have chip cards to even enter this building, so it is ultra safe here. No one who does not live here can enter without a tenant coming downstairs and letting them inside.

I want to sincerely apologize for having to drop out of the recent Color It Red Blog Hop. I did email Carol ahead of time, and am so disappointed that my two projects just were not finished in time. It also took a whole day for me to set-up internet and TV here, which did save the cost of hiring it done. As soon as possible, I will post those two projects for all to see anyway. Thank you all for staying beside me and as always for all of the sweet comments.

NCAA pillow: Ole Miss®

Yes, another pillow and cover. They are so addictive! This one is made of Ole Miss® (my alma mater) block fabric. 'Have had the fabric for some years, and finally got this made. The front has walking foot straight line quilting in the thin white block lines (difficult to see in the photo). The backing is solid navy, and is envelope-style. This pillow and cover measure 18" square. What is best about pillow covers is they can easily be changed when desired. Isn't it great that they do not have to match the couch or bed? Contrasting colors/designs add interest.
