Word of the Year: 2026

Here it is, 2026 already. Can you believe that? My Word of the Year 2026 is focus. This year, my plan is to be more focused on sewing, quilting and blogging. This includes completing some UFOs and WIPs, as well as a SAHRR from 2025 and two quilt alongs from 2023. 2026 is going to be awesome! Looking forward to seeing everything that you all create and share. 'Already seeing some projects in this first week of this new year. Word of the Year 2025

Hoping you all are having a great last week of 2024. For my Word of the Year 2025, I have chosen joy. A good definition is, "a feeling of pleasure and happiness". Psalm 16:11 states: "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy;" {referring to God}. At this age, I have found that joy is an attitude that must be chosen with a positive mindset. This is a lofty goal for sure, but not one that cannot be attained. Wishing you all a year full of joy.

A look back at 2021

Although late, I am looking back at 2021. What a year that was. Cannot beieve it is already April 1st, can you? 'Did not get nearly as many quilts finished as planned, but thankful for what was completed. So sorry to have missed the #PlanningParty from Yvonne at Quilting JET Girl. Better late than never, in 2021 6 quilts were completed, 4 mug mats, 4 placemats, 2 pillows, 9 dolls, 8 wood crafts, 7 cards, 2 baby clothing items, 2 pin keeps, 1 purse, and finally 1 cake was baked.

Happy New Year to you all. This year, my Word is not a new one. From 2017, I am revisiting patience. 2020 was very trying on us all, so more patience is just what I need. Learning to wait is kinda difficult for many people, but sometimes things just do not happen the exact moment we want them do, do they? Some things never actually happen at all. Learning to be patient and to accept the outcome is my goal. And to get more quilting finished. What is your Word for 2021 going to be? 'Did not finish as many quilts in 2020 as planned, only half as many as in 2019. See the total below. Blessings.

Word of the Year 2020: create

Soon we will be ringing-in 2020. Wow, can you believe it? 2019 held a lot of events, some happy and some sad. Here's hoping that our 2020 will have much more joy. For 2020, my chosen word is: create- to bring (something) into existence. This will include quilts and dolls, clothing and all other crafts/projects. Closely related to my goals for 2020, this sounds like a good plan. Maybe create a quilt pattern? Have you made any plans for the coming year yet? Happy New Year to you all!

Word of the Year: 2019

The New Year will be here in about eight hours, and for 2019 my Word of the Year is going to be: resolute- determined in character, action, or ideas. This was also my word for the In Our Own Words quilt project that was completed this month. It is a beautiful quilt, created and made by Kim at Leland Avenue Studios, that features embroidered quilt blocks of words to describe women. Why not carry my word on into 2019? Happy New Year's Eve wishes to you all. 2019 is going to be awesome!

Good morning to you all, on this the last day of 2017. Soon it will be 2018, and my chosen Word of the Year is: finish. Yes, finish those UFO quilt tops that have accumulated, lol. In the past 4+ years, there are now about fourteen quilt top flimsies. Perhaps last year's Word, "patience" will apply this year as well. In 2017, thirteen quilts/mug rugs were completed. Thank you all for another fantastic year of blogging. Sending Happy New Year wishes to you all. Here's to another fun-filled year of blogging (and this new blog theme- Soho)!

#2018PlanningParty

Hello friends. The year 2018 will be here soon, and I do have some plans/resolutions for the year:

1. Get at least half of my quilt top UFOs quilted. Yes, many have accumulated in the past 4-something years, lol. In 2017 ten quilts, table runners, and doll quilts were completed.

2. Find the courage to socialize with other quilters/stitchers here locally. Our area does have a few quilters groups, and I want to get over the shyness about meeting some of them. For blogging online quilter friends (and friends who don't quilt), comment and socialize more with you all.

3. Learn how to machine-stitch more quilting designs, in addition to my usual meandering, cross-hatch, and loopy-loops. How about Baptist Fan, Matchstick, Circular, and Leaves? Gorgeous!

All of these bring us to my chosen Word of the Year for 2018: finish. Wish me luck, lol.

Happy New Year 2017

Happy New Year everyone. Hoping your first day of 2017 is going happy and well. My word for 2017 is patience. Closely related to last year's word, relax, yet a bit different. Sometimes things do not happen/get done immediately, and patience would definitely help to deal with the stress of waiting. Maybe then relaxing would be easier, think so? So, for 2017 the plan actually merges with 2016's plan: to be more patient + learn to relax more.. Do you have a word for 2017?

For 2017, I do have some thoughts and plans. First will be the finishing of several UFO quilts. Do you also tend to finish quilts for other people before your own? Some of mine have been just quilt tops for several years, lol. In the plans is also to venture into more intricate quilting designs. Having been quilting for only about 3 years, my "go-to" is usually the large meandering. This is an excellent design that works for many quilts, but I really need to learn some more designs. Closely related to this will be my first attempt at a wholecloth quilt with some fabrics won recently. Wish me luck! Another plan is to continue attempting to make better blog photos. While they have gotten better, some still do not look as good as I'd like. Any helpful photography tips are always appreciated. Improving on writing blog posts will be a goal as well. As a closing thought, my word for 2017 is going to be patience. Everything cannot happen/be done instantly, right? Happy New Year 2016!

Happy New Year! Here in the CST zone, it is officially 2016. Something I have seen some bloggers do across the web, is choose a special word for the new year. 'Gonna give that a go for the first time and choose the word relax. Some other people are choosing that word also, and it really does fit my life. It is not always easy to accept life situations that we cannot change, so being able to relax regardless of the circumstances would help so much. We all know that stress can be harmful not only emotionally but physically. Are you choosing a word for 2016? Prim New Year blessings.
