Project Quilting 17.1: blank slate

The Project Quilting 17.1 challenge is "blank slate." Based on the Pantone® Color of the Year, 11-4201 Cloud Dancer {a neutral white color symbolizing a blank canvas}, we are prompted to think of a blank or clean slate for this challenge. I have chosen to attempt a hand-stitching Japanese art called sashiko. It typically uses dark indigo fabrics with off-white thread. My little 7" diameter project is from a pattern created by designer Printanica on Etsy. It is actually quilted to batting with a fabric backing, so it will count as my first completed quilt for 2026. Bowl cozies

Well, hello friends! Yes, it has been a while. I am back to sewing again, and hoping to be quilting again very soon. These are three bowl cozies that I made for my daughter and her family for Christmas this year. Somehow, one cozy did not get into the photo. The pattern is free, and cannot remember the site that this was on. A lot of my friends say how they love bowl cozies, so it was a new project for me. They are constructed with 100% cotton fabrics, batting, and thread. Have you ever made any of these? They were fun to sew, and my daughter loves them. Wishing you all happy holidays.

Completed: Civil War Mini Quilt 2025

This is my completed quilt for The Civil War Mini Quilt Challenge 2025 at: Kathleen Tracy's Facebook Group. As you can see in this photo, I just was not happy with my choice of sashing fabric. So, 'changed it to the same fabric as the borders. In my years of quilting, I have found that it is usually better to just go ahead and make a change instead of looking at the completed quilt and always wishing that a change would have been made. It is so much easier to makle a change before the quilt is all finished, isn't it? Please continue reading for this little quilt's stats.

Modern Crows: update

Here are the completed two Modern Crow blocks, designed by:Sasha's Quilts on Etsy. I have added wide borders, since this is going to be a table runner. There will be a third {center} block that is in the works. There are three Crows included in the pattern, and these are numbers 2 and 3. They are foundation paper pieced, which is a skill that I am still learning. There is just something about these patterns that is eye-catching. Modern and kind of simple, and very pretty design. Most of the fabrics used are from my stash as well, so yay for that. Are you currently working on any quilt blocks?

Monthly Color Challenge 2023- more blocks

Here are my April through August blocks for the: Patterns By Jen (PBJ) Monthly Color Challenge 2023. This quilt along is so much fun, I love solid color fabrics so much. This event lasts through December, so that allows for the quilt to be all completed in early 2024. Are you working on any quilt alongs this year?

Picnic Blog Hop project: completed!

Here is my completed project for the Picnic Party Blog Hop that was hosted by Carol of: Just Let Me Quilt. It is a little quilt that can be used as a snack mat, or a decoration. Quadrille: more fabric piecing

Still working on the Quadrille quilt along with Carole over at: From My Carolina Home. Here is the latest step. I am still so happy about stash busting some reproduction Civil War era scraps! Plus, this will be another nice little quilt to have. Best of both worlds, right? Wow, some { OK, most } of these fabrics are so old. Past wonderful collections for sure. Welcome Spring quilt top

Good morning friends. This little quilt top is from the Welcome Spring quilt along going on over at: Heartspun Quilts. This pattern is wonderful for stash busting those reproduction Civil War Era fabrics. 'Still "auditioning" backing fabrics and am going to swap-out a couple of the squares for other color fabrics. It just bothers me if two fabrics alike or similiar are close to each other in the layout. Does that bother you? 'Will be finishing this one as soon as possible. The background is muslin, and deciding whether to age it. Would you, or not? It is not too late to join in on this fun event. Today is perfect sewing weather, as it has been raining a lot. Autumn Jubilee: Embroidered Wall Quilt

Good (rainy) morning to you all. Finally, here is my completed Embroidered Wall Quilt from the : Autumn Jubilee 2022. This annual event is hosted by Carole at From My Carolina Home. The event is over for this year, but better late than never for my project, right? This little quilt is 14" square, and the center pumpkin has machine embroidered decorative stitching. Halloween fabrics won!

Recently I participated in the Gremlins, Ghouls and Goblins Blog Hop, and won these fabulous collection of 12 fat quarters from Carol at: Just Let Me Quilt. Aren't they beautiful? Quilted coat: progress

Having so much fun making this quilted coat for the: Quilted Jacket SAL at From My Carolina Home. Not wanting to give-away too many details yet, here is a progress photo. So far, it is going well. I have made a coat before, just not a quilted one. It is wonderful to learn and try new sewing projects. It really has been a minute since I have sewn clothing, due to so many quilts. Gotta love all sewing and quilting though, right? Are you joing-in this stitch-along?

Quilted Jacket Sew Along- pattern and fabrics

Goodness, I am so far behind on the: Quilted Jacket Sew Along hosted by Carol at From My Carolina Home. 'Finally got the pattern, Simplicity 9287, that is now out of print. ('will rate the pattern once the coat is completed). 'Chose the version with a collar, hood and lining. So now it's make adjustments and cut out the pattern. Then get to quilting the coat pieces. Stay tuned to see more progress.

What have I been working on lately? This photo is a sneak-peek. Well,it is for a Challenge. Not the colors I usually work with, but why not try new colors? Do you ever do that?
