Pantone® Quilt Challenge 2019: progress

It's week 7 of the Photo Prompts for the Pantone® Quilt Challenge, hosted by Rebecca of Bryan House Quilts and Sarah of No Hats in the House. This week is Progress, so this is my nearly-completed large quilt top. See the coral fabrics? It may look confusing, but you will see it all come together soon. In addition to the focus color, Living Coral, there is also a focus theme inspiration. You can see hints of that if you look closely. So much fun! The small quilt (pillow cover) is finished, and the just-the-top quilt is getting there as well. Pantone® Quilt Challenge 2019: fabric pull

Are you joining-in the Pantone® Quilt Challenge sponsored by: Bryan House Quilts and: No Hats in the House Blog? Here is my fabric pull for the largest quilt. Well, at least most of it. Add solid grey and solid black to the mix. The Color of the Year 2019 is Living Coral, so several of those are included. I am working on three projects, and two are kinda small. There will be a quilt over 30" on the sides, a pillow cover that will be considered a small quilt, and a just-the-top quilt. A lot of work ahead, isn't it? A future post will describe my inspiration(s) and patterns' details, so stay tuned. Happy Spring and happy sewing!

Yes it's that time again. The Pantone® Color of the Year Challenge. Sponsored by: Bryan House Quilts and No Hats in the House, this is a place to show-off your quilt featuring this year's color Living Coral. There will be prizes awarded, a great incentive, right? Rin QAL: completed quilt!

Here is my completed quilt for the Rin QAL. This project was educational + tons of fun. It will probably be given as a gift, but it's so cute that I kinda want to keep it for myself, lol. Rin QAL: nearly completed quilt!

Here is my nearly completed quilt for the Rin QAL. The four blocks and the borders are now sewn. This event was hosted by: Hyacinth Quilt Designs and: Meadow Mist Designs. The Rin pattern designer is: Carolyn Friedlander. How much fun it was! My first go at hand-turned appliquéing has been successful. Stay tuned to see future progress. All four blocks appliquéd qualifies it for my One Monthly Goal Finish for June. What an incredible month! Here are the quilt's stats:

Dream Machine Challenge!

Hello friends. Yes, here it is again. 'Absolutely love this Sewing Machine appliqué pattern designed by Pat Sloan. This Challenge is to create the machine in your own fancy colors and fabrics. What would be your own idea of the perfect sewing machine? So, here is mine.

I decided to display my quilt in a quilter's hoop. Do you remember some years ago when this type of hoop art was so popular? My Dream Machine is black, with computerized LED window. Notice the medallion has my initial "D" inside of it. Added a green polka dot ruffle for decoration. You knew this would include some green, right? Lol. Added a drawer to the table to look like my own sewing table, and a quilt block under the needle. A little blue bird holds the thread end. This little quilt measures 24" diameter including the ruffle, and expresses me so well. Be sure to visit the link party to see many more creative takes on two of Pat's Sewing Machine patterns. Pantone® Quilt Challenge 2017

This is my entry in the No Hats In The House Pantone® Quilt Challenge 2017. The color for 2017 is greenery, and this pattern suits that perfectly. It is called Canvas, designed by: Leanne at She Can Quilt.ca. Gotta love a challenge that features my favorite color. Improv Play completed quilt!

Finally, my Improv Play quilt is completed. This was an eight week QAL hosted by Elm Street Quilts Blog. This was my first attempt at letting go of symmetry and sewing improv-style. 'So happy that my granddaughter Macey won the 2017 Fish Fry Tiny Tot Pageant this year! All of the girls are darling, and it must have not been easy to choose the winners. Good morning friends. We do have a winner on the OK, so what is this item? contest. Thank you to all who ventured a guess, lol. The item is an old glass baby formula container/mixer from the 1960's. 'Assuming that the ones for baby boys were likely blue (?). Since mother had twin girls, this one is pink. The old metal stove-top sterilizer with rack and some glass baby bottles was also under the sink along with this. Wow, talk about feeling old, lol! Our winner is:

Night Crossing bed runner: king-sized

Good morning everyone. The bed runner pictured above was made for my mother, for Christmas 2015. The pattern is called Night Crossing, and is from the e-book: e-PatternsCentral.com: Bed Runners Using Precut Fabrics. [not an affiliate link]. This runner is king-sized, measuring 101"X23.50". The fabrics are 100% cottons, and are from the Fusions Meadow collection by Robert Kaufman. The backing is a multi-colored abstract cotton print. The binding is purple. The batting is Warm N' Natural©. The machine quilting is an all over meandering style. Mother loves bright colors, so this is a quilt that she does love and use. This is also my first of two entries in the Blogger's Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side. This runner is entered in the: large quilts category. Be sure to visit and see all of the quilts.
