Another raggedy doll

'Just realized that although I thanked her, I never blogged about this darling raggedy doll that Diane of: Lavender Dreams sent to me back in 2017. What a wonderful birthday gift! She is sitting in a little wood chair that I actually found at a local thrift store. Perfect fit! The doll's green frock is my favorite color too. Oh, and one more thing: how do you all dye the fabric black for primitive black crows, dolls and such? Acrylic paint dries and forms kinda a hard plastic shell. 'Difficult to sand without ripping the fabric. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Snowman doll from 2014

Good afternoon friends. Pictured above is a darling snowman that was included in the Homespun Holidays Giveaway back in 2014. There was not a close-up photo of him, so here he is again, re-posted, lol. He is from a pattern by: Sweet Meadows Farm named HoHoHo, Let It Snow. Someday I will make one for myself. Isn't he just too cute?

Farmhouse Summer Swap 2016

Good morning dear friends. Wow, summer is soon to be gone and autumn will arrive. 'Kinda lookign forward to the cooler weather here in the South. Goodness, it is so humid here. One of the wonderful events of this summer was the Farmhouse Summer Swap, hosted by Amy of: Bumblebee Lane Cottage. This year, Amy was my swap partner. My Raggedy Dolls: Part 5

It has been a while, but here are some more of my raggedy dolls. The one in the center was made by Rene of Sew Many Raggedies blog. The other two were made by me several years ago. They are meant to be a brother and sister. I was learning how to paint and sand the muslin fabric. Yes, it is fun to collect raggedy dolls, isn't it?

Harvest Gatherings Swap 2015

Lookie what came in the mail yesterday! Swap goodies from Bumblebee Lane Cottage's annual Harvest Gatherings Swap. My swap partner was Debbie of: Barefoot Primitives Blog. Wow, Debbie really did spoil me. She sent: a darling raggedy doll, a muslin turkey, 2 muslin pumpkins, 2 wax potpourri cakes, some vintage milk caps, 3 ears of muslin corn, a bundle of cinnamon sticks, a bundle of little candles, a sewing notions doll on a vintage spool, 5 bowl filler pillows with sunflowers (1 has Hebrews 4:14 verse), a note card set with pretty bird graphics, an owls pin keep and 2 cakes of beeswax, a vintage baby frock, a blue note pad roll with a wooden writing pen, a rusty wire with ladybugs and sunflowers trimming, and 2 darling prim hang tags. Prayer dolls

Have you ever heard of Prayer dolls? I found out about them from Dress A Girl Around The World, a charity that provides dresses for needy girls. Some ladies include a Prayer doll in the pockets of the dresses they send. They are really minimal and simple to make. Inside the doll's head, you place a prayer written on a scrap piece of paper or fabric. Even though the girl will never actually see the prayer, the idea is that the well-wishes are there. Mother and I sew dresses for this charity when possible, and thought these dolls would also be nice to send. Although neither of us is employed by nor receives any financial benefit from helping this charity, we so enjoy helping them. Yes, the reward is being happy to help the needy. *Eleanor the Snowflake-Catcher Mouse*

This is a mouse doll pattern that I designed. Her name is Eleanor, and she is complete with her blue metal snowflake catcher pail and warm wool felt mittens. Eleanor is made of osnaburg, and wears a 100% cotton coffee and vanilla stained blue dress with white snowflakes print. Her apron is made of that same fabric in lighter blue with white snowflakes print. She is 18" tall, and also wears bleached muslin pantaloons and a mob cap. See her long tail, tucked just behind her right foot? Doesn't she look very prim and Wintery? Eleanor could actually find some snow here in Alabama today, as we got a little dusting overnight. Snow is better than the freezing ice anytime. Hoping you are all safe and warm.

Sunbonnet Sue raggedy doll

'Another Sunbonnet Sue goody! Pictured above is a personalized raggedy doll for my granddaughter Macey, to coordinate with the quilt ensemble that I made for her. This Sue wears a dress made from a remnant from one of the dresses that I made for Macey. 'Guess this is a modern version of a Sunbonnet Sue. Macey and her mother (my daughter) both love the completed Sunbonnet Sue ensemble, including this special raggedy. To see a close-up view of Sue's face, follow the link below my signature.

Grungy prim raggedy doll

This is a faceless coffee-stained raggedy doll that I made a couple of years ago. 'Just winged-it on the pattern and clothing. She is made of heavily stained and aged muslin, and is 20" tall. Her dress is made of 100% cotton homespun fabric in a red, green, and white check weave. Her pantaloons are made of muslin, and her legs are made of 100% cotton ticking in red stripes. The bonnet is made of 100% cotton in a dark green with tiny red and yellow flowers print. Are there any suggestions on a name for this raggedy doll? Prim Autumn blessings.

Harvest Gatherings Swap goodies!

Good evening friends. 'Participated in the Harvest Gatherings Swap again, and my partner was: Sandi of The Primitive Skate. Pictured above are the darling goodies that Sandi sent to me: big ole stuffed pumpkin, little wooden angel, embroidered kitchen towel, metal planter with beautiful crow and pumpkin painted on its front, little green bucket with a crow label and a stuffed pumpkin inside, Pumpkin Seed scented tart and three scented soaps, cute corn battery-powered light, and a vintage white metal bowl filled with a corn cob and some other little scented items. Meet Abbey the Garden Angel

Good morning prim pals. Pictured above is my take on the Garden Angel Doll Challenge at: Ravenwood Whimzies. The angel's name is Abbey, and she is approximately 24" tall. Abbey wears a 100% cotton frock, pantaloons, and apron. Her body is made of unbleached muslin that has been lightly coffee-stained and vanilla scented. The eyes are two black buttons, and Abbey's nose is a simple patch of rose-colored cotton fabric. Being an angel, her wings are made of 100% cotton in a white on white tonal butterflies print fabric. There is a layer of quilt batting sandwiched between the wings. Abbey's hair is auburn heavy weight yarn. To shade her from the sun, she has a straw hat with a batch of daisies slung over her back. Spring Tidings 2014 Swap goodies!

Hello friends. Recently, I participated in Bumblebee Lane Cottage's Spring Tidings Swap. Allison of: Sew Many Girls was my partner, and she sent the beautiful goodies pictured above: a darling dancing Annie, a prim bunny tuck, a 5"X7" padded Spring blessings framed artwork, a wooden patriotic basket filled with fabric-covered eggs and Spanish moss, a stuffed antique tin tart mold, a green floral quilt square, three prim flowerettes, a cute prim bunny pail filled with fabric-covered eggs and Spanish moss, and a darling yellow prim chick tuck. Too cute rabbit

Pictured above is a too-cute rabbit that was purchased from Linda of: Parker's General Blog. She does not know who actually made the rabbit. Someone really did a good job on it. I got the rabbit a few months ago, and just forgot to post about it. Spring time reminds me of animals like rabbits, so now was a good time to post. Notice the darling straw hat on her head.
