Happy trees backpack

Hello all! 'Hope your week is going great. Do you ever sew items that are not quilts or clothing? Pictured above is a backpack for my granddaughter. The pattern is designed by Liz Porter, and is called Groovy Backpack. The book's title is Quilt Lover's Gifts: Best of Fons & Porter, published by Leisure Arts. This awesome book was purchased for a mere $3.50 when our local Hancock Fabrics went out of business. The pattern actually calls for pre-quilted fabrics, but I just quilted my own fabric with a cross-hatch design. The 100% cotton print is whimsical trees with word art, "Happy, Fun, Together, Laughter". The backing is an abstract multi color print cotton. Inside is a label with granddaughter's name sewn-down well with a zig-zag stitch. The shoulder straps act as drawstrings to open & close the backpack. Although maybe not for heavy books, this backpack is perfect for carrying her gymnastics gear. A Velcro© closure on the front pocket is handy.

Loved the colors you picked out, turned out well. Great deal on the book. And yes I do sew other things, soft sculptured dolls and animals. Occasional pillow etc. I have to change around alot. Keeps my attention better.

I love making bags and this backpack is very cute. I have lots of 'boys' in my family so it's fun to make book bags and totes. I'll have to try one of these soon. Love the fabric too! Nice! Hugs, Diane
