Quilted coat: nearly finished

This has been a complicated but educational and fun experience. I have made a coat before, but not a quilted one. The chance arose from the: Quilted Jacket SAL from Carole at From My Carolina Home. The pattern is Simplicity 9287 (now out of print). 'Still need to hem the sleeves, lining and coat hem. Then the fasteners will be attached. Stay tuned, as they are an unexpected surprise. Please keep reading to see the back of the coat.
The back is my favorite part of this coat. It is a free quilt pattern from Gathered.com, modified for this coat. Although the coat's main color reads navy, it is actually a dark grey shade. Wow, this was really thick to quilt through! A larger size needle, 16, was used. Carole thank you so much for this SAL. Otherwise, I likely would have never attempted this project. Stay tuned to see it all finished- including the fasteners and the detachable hood.

Blessings, Danice G.
