The Project Quilting 17.1 challenge is "blank slate." Based on the Pantone® Color of the Year, 11-4201 Cloud Dancer {a neutral white color symbolizing a blank canvas}, we are prompted to think of a blank or clean slate for this challenge. I have chosen to attempt a hand-stitching Japanese art called sashiko. It typically uses dark indigo fabrics with off-white thread. My little 7" diameter project is from a pattern created by designer Printanica on Etsy. It is actually quilted to batting with a fabric backing, so it will count as my first completed quilt for 2026. Yay! Be sure to visit and see all of the other projects.

Nice stitching, Danice. Congrats on the first finish of 2026!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I definitely plan to do more sashiko stitching.
DeleteYour work reminds me of chalk on a chalkboard (another interpretation for the clean slate!). It's lovely and I hope you get to hang it somewhere you can enjoy it daily. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Well, my stitches could look better, but it was my first time doing sashiko.
