My Favorite Quilt Block: Blog Hop

Welcome to another day on the: Creatin' in the Sticks- My Favorite Quilt Block Blog Hop! This is my favorite quilt block- the Ribbon Star. Although an old pattern, contemporary fabrics make it a fresh modern spin on the traditional Sawtooth Star. I made some last summer for the Covered in Love July block drive, and fell in love with the block.

There are many free online tutorials for this block, with some variations. This one finished at 16" square, so borders + three blocks made this table runner. The white background fabric is actually a white-on-white hexagon print. Be sure to visit and see everyone's favorites this week. So much fun!

Visit more September 10th participants: Quiltscapes, Melva Loves Scraps, Stitchin At Home, Mary Mack Made Mine, Just Because Quilts, Den syende himmel, Selina Quilts. Sending thanks to Carla for hosting yet another awesome blog hop.

Here are the stats for my Ribbon Star quilt:

♦ dimensions: 19 1/2" X 51 1/2"

♦ fabrics: various 100% cotton fabrics, from my stash

♦ backing: grey with grey tonal print

♦ batting: Warm N' Natural© 100% Cotton

♦ quilting: machine-stitched with walking foot echoes along the seams

♦ binding: solid grey, sewn by machine and hand

♥ Completed WIP/UFO quilts in 2019: 10 ♥

I am sure I've seen this block before but it's amazing how the color choice makes it look so different. The center star done in one fabric looks completely different than the stars done in 2 colors. The finished piece is stellar. (sorry I couldn't help myself). Thanks for hopping with us.

Lovely and bright runner. I've made many star blocks, but I don't think I've tried this one.

Thank you all so much. 'Wish the white-on-white hexagon print were more visible in the photos. There are free tutorials for the Ribbon Star block on: simplesimonandco.com , seasonedhomemaker.com, and freshlemonsquilts.com (to list a few). It is a fun and simple block to sew.

So cute! I love these stars. Big blocks, made with all half-square triangles, which are my fave.
