So happy to be part of Carla's: ' Creatin' in the Sticks' Stitching Sunshine Blog Hop. The projects were to include some of the color yellow, so here are two from me. The 17" square pillow cover has three scattered LPs with yellow centers, on a white with black music notes background. Keep reading for more info and for comments.
The envelope back is solid yellow. The quilting is echoed in each LP center, curved walking-foot lines on the LPs' black areas, and free-motion loops in the background. This idea came from my love of music. Remember those vinyl LPs? Outdated now, but actually still collected and cherished by many people. Most of mine are by the Beatles.
The second project is an 7 1/2" X 23 1/2" quilted wall hanging- it's a scrappy yellow spool of thread! The "thread" has closely-spaced walking foot stitching, and both of the spool ends are echoed. The background is a white-on-white dots fabric, with free-motion loops quilting design. Yellow binding really makes it look framed, doesn't it? This wall hanging has already found a home in the [new] sewing area.

That long spool is fun, and a good idea. But you forgot the list, so we can find your fellow hoppers today.
ReplyDeleteAdded the list. 'Apologies for that :)

ReplyDeleteBoth pieces are so artsy and full of sunshine! I've got a box full of LPs but no machine to play them on. It's fun to look through them and reminisce about the good times. Thank you for sharing both of these and brightening our day!
ReplyDeleteLove your sunshine-y projects, especially that spool of thread. I am now thinking of a using that for some favorite short strips!

ReplyDeleteGreat projects! I love your LP pillow. It would look perfect in a rec room, maybe with some old albums hung on the wall. (Most of my records are from the Beatles, too.) I really love your yellow spool of thread, too. A little sunshine for your sewing room.
