Salt & Sand Blog Hop: Day 1

Good morning, bright and early, to all of you. Welcome to Day 1 of the Salt & Sand Blog Hop. My creation is this little quilted wall hanging, featuring "kissing fish" and the sandy ocean floor. 'See the lone starfish lying there? 'Reminds me of the Gulf of Mexico in Florida, from family vacations many years ago. Those salt waters can be many shades of greens and blues. The vibrant batik fabrics work so well for aquatic quilts, don't they? This little quilt measures approx. 12" X 16", and it is machine quilted with walking-foot echo lines and a decorative machine stitched wavy line. There is no binding, as it was sewn RST and then turned. Thank you, Carol, for another awesome blog hop! Be sure to visit all of the amazing blog hoppers this week to see what they have created:

A sweet summery quilted wall hanging. Love your vibrant batik fish. Yes, batiks lend themselves so well for vibrancy and stitching life into a textile image. Adding the starfish on the ocean floor is a perfect detail for the scene. I so long to visit the ocean again. One of my favorite places to be.

I love this piece. You're right about the batiks. They are doing a lot of the work.
My favorite is the little star fish resting on the sand. Just a perfect fit for this hop.

Lovely piece. I like your use of walking foot quilting. I also LOVE batiks, so I might be a little biased :).

You capture the gulf well. My family and I visit the quiet area outside Panama City Beach every other year and this July we are going. Your mention of the Gulf makes me even more excited to finally get out of Ohio and see ocean waters again.

Danice your little kissing fish is so cute. It made me think of a long ago trip to Bermuda; clear bright water and brightly coloured fish. So much fun in the memories. Thank you for sharing. 😉 Carol
