Completed: Civil War Mini Quilt 2025

This is my completed quilt for The Civil War Mini Quilt Challenge 2025 at: Kathleen Tracy's Facebook Group. As you can see in this photo, I just was not happy with my choice of sashing fabric. So, 'changed it to the same fabric as the borders. In my years of quilting, I have found that it is usually better to just go ahead and make a change instead of looking at the completed quilt and always wishing that a change would have been made. It is so much easier to makle a change before the quilt is all finished, isn't it? Please continue reading for this little quilt's stats.

This was such a fun quilt along. 'Learning to get better at sewing smaller quilt blocks for sure, which is a good thing. Some of these Civil war era reproduction fabrics are from my stash from up to 10 years ago. Here are this little quilt's stats:

♦ dimensions: 21" X 29" {before washing and drying}

♦ fabrics: 100% cotton fabrics, mostly Civil War era reproduction fabrics from my stash

♦ backing: 100% cotton cream-colored floral print fabric

♦ batting: Warm N' Natural©

♦ quilting: machine-stitched walking foot cross-hatch, and single line in the borders

♦ binding: 100% cotton fabric, dark brown leaves print, machine and hand-stitched

♥ Completed WIP/UFO quilts in 2025: 5 ♥

  3. I agree, better to go ahead and make a change rather than regret not doing so forever. It turned out nice!

  4. I liked the original version but I know what you mean if something doesn't feel right - I haven't finished my mini as I can't decide on any borders.

  5. Totally agree with making a change and having something you enjoy, rather than dealing with the regret later. It is a beautiful finish!
