~Autumn Dining Room~

Good evening friends! We have started some Autumn decorating since seeing all of your beautiful posts this week. This is our Dining Room. Displayed on the maple antique table are some of my giveaway wins, and some pretty silk autumn flowers in an antique green glass vase. I made the place mats a few years ago. The silverware is goldtone and has a cherry wood storage case. The plates are by Better Homes & Gardens' Bella Fruit© pattern. Yeah, due to the kiddos there is a clear plastic cover over the golden damask table cloth. The China cabinet is maple, circa 1963. It houses mother's wedding China and crystal. The China is the 45 pc. set by Noritake© , their now discontinued Fairmont pattern. The crystal is the also now discontinued Wedding Ring (platinum 6102) pattern by Fostoria©. Don't you just love older China and crystal?

Autumn is here!

Autumn is finally here! I am really enjoying these cooler, cozy temperatures. This is my favorite time of the year, along with Spring. Even the rain doesn't bother me. There is kind of a nice feeling when it rains. 'Don't know why, but that's what it makes me think. Happy Autumn and rest of the weekend to all of you.

How to not get cut?

OK, so I need some advice. I just cut the b-doodle out of my hand trying to clean out a metal beans can. The idea was to clean it and decorate it prim style, but that obviously didn't work out as was planned. How do you all keep the edges of a metal can from being sharp? Does it need filing down or something? It is one of those cans that has a tab-pull off top like in the photo above. One thing for sure: I will think twice before pawing in another metal can, lol!

Remembering 9-11-2001

Eleven years ago today, America experienced one of the most horrible events that I can recall in my lifetime. Prayers for those who suffered or lost their lives on 11 September, 2001, and for their family and other loved ones. Sometimes few words and many prayers can be enough. This seems to be one of those times...

Prim patriotic bird house

These are two wonderful items I received from Natalie of Tins and Treasures. These are from her Tins & Treasures' Etsy shoppe. Since I was her 100th customer, Natalie added the cute little metal rooster can. If you haven't yet checked-out Etsy, you are missing a lot. The items are very pretty, and many of the Bloggers have shops there.

More gifts from Vicky!

Oh my goodness. I just now found some more gifts from Vicky's giveaway that I won last month. In the excitement about the wood Annie door plaque, I didn't look in the bottom of the box. Vicky also sent a fragrant buttered rum soy tart, a fancy notepad, and a beautiful ceramic easel plaque with a bird on it. 'So sorry for not finding them sooner. Thanks again to you, Vicky. The gifts are all so lovely and appreciated. Be sure to visit and follow Vicky's blog at: Paintspots & Splinters.

Happy Labor Day!

Today is the day that America celebrates all of those who work or have worked to earn a living. We all know how difficult work is, and it hasn't been too long ago that I was still able to work. A great big Thank you to all. May we never forget that in America, we really do have wonderful freedoms and rights.
