Aqua and brown batik dress

Here is another dress for my granddaughter, using Simplicity 2063 pattern again. The pattern is so cute, 'just couldn't resist. This dress is made of 100% cotton batik, in aqua and dark brown colors. Aqua seems to be one of the "in"colors this season. When my daughter was younger, I honestly never thought of brown for little girls' clothing. The times and styles have certainly changed since then. The dress has two covered button closures on the left shoulder, and a contrasting neckline trim. Of course, I also made a matching hair bow for this darling dress. For a beginner, the neckline trim could be a bit tricky. There are two buttonholes, plus a lot of gathering of three rows of ruffles. In consideration, my pattern difficulty rating is:

  1. Very cute! Maybe one day I'll have a little girl to sew for!!

  2. So adorable! I find myself leaning toward brown/blue and such too. You did an amazing job!

  3. Simply adorable!!!
    Great colors together

  4. How sweet! I love the fabric and we all love ruffles! If you get a chance, would you let me know if you have done a tutorial on staining fabric with coffee? I know I've seen it on a prim blog but can't find it now! I'm thinking of trying it on one of my dolls! Thanks girlfriend! Hugs!

  5. What a sweet little dress, Danice! The fabric is lovely -- those colors look so good together. It's interesting how even colors go in and out of style, isn't it? I must say I'm glad that brown is now an "option" for little girls, as it can be so versatile. Your granddaughter is blessed to have such a talented grandma! :-)
