Baby shower quilt

'Remember the Lovey Giraffes crib quilt for that baby shower on 18 October? Pictured above is the happy mother at the shower. Stevie is a good friend, and we are all so proud of her. She and her husband also have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. Stevie recently graduated, and is now a nurse. My twin sister and I went to high school with both of Stevie's parents, back in the day, lol. The whole family is near and dear to us. Looking forward to baby Ryder's arrival. Don't you just love sewing/quilting for people like them, who really do appreciate it? Also sending a happy birthday wish to my BIL Wendell today. Y'all have a safe Halloween.

Dresden plate small quilt

Good afternoon friends. Wow, a post in the evening... surprise! 'Just want to show you all the little 17" square Dresden plate quilt that I made. Yes, it was more difficult than I thought it would be. The center circle is a bit elliptical (lol), but still pleased with the outcome. It is made of autumn-ish fabrics from stash. The quilting is meandering, and the backing is a beige with muted-tone fruits. You can see the back by following the link below my signature.

Now, 2 questions: in quilting, is a flimsy a pieced and stitched quilt top? What does floating blocks mean? Does it mean that they are raised or larger than other blocks in the quilt? I am still quite the newbie in quilting, since about a year and a half ago. You all always are so helpful. It is thanks to many of you that I have learned quilting skills. Prim blessings.

Lovey Giraffes crib quilt

Good morning friends. The crib quilt pictured above was truly a labor of love. It took me several months to complete this quilt for a friend's baby shower. Since it was started before my friend and her husband knew boy or girl, this allowed me plenty of time to get it completed. They have since announced that they are having a boy.

Country Roads quilt-along

Hey there you all. 'Hope your weekend went well. I actually finished my Country Roads quilt for Humble Quilts Blog's Quilt-Along. I am still kinda a newbie quilter, so blocks on-point are a bit of a challenge. Then, why did I do it? lol. Because on-point blocks are such a pretty design. When I chose the cheddar fabric for the spacers, 'did not think about it having a tiny vertical floral design. So, tried to match that as best as possible. 'Main thing is, it does run vertically in every area. Whew! So worth the effort though. I wanted my quilt to be larger, so added the 2 1/4" wide navy borders. This makes the quilt finish at about 28 1/2" square. Used the same navy cotton fabric for the quilt backing, along with a burgundy binding.

Here is a close-up view of my Country Roads quilt. Yes, some of my blocks are a bit "wonky", lol. On-point is so pretty but a bit more difficult than squared. The machine quilting is simple meandering style, which does seem easier to do than other styles. The fabrics are Civil war era reproductions from several designers. This little quilt is great for watching TV on those cooler nights. There's just something comforting about a quilt, isn't there? Thank you, Lori, for this fun quilt-along.
