Goals for 2017

image: geralt | Pixabay.com

For 2017, I do have some thoughts and plans. First will be the finishing of several UFO quilts. Do you also tend to finish quilts for other people before your own? Some of mine have been just quilt tops for several years, lol. In the plans is also to venture into more intricate quilting designs. Having been quilting for only about 3 years, my "go-to" is usually the large meandering. This is an excellent design that works for many quilts, but I really need to learn some more designs. Closely related to this will be my first attempt at a wholecloth quilt with some fabrics won recently. Wish me luck! Another plan is to continue attempting to make better blog photos. While they have gotten better, some still do not look as good as I'd like. Any helpful photography tips are always appreciated. Improving on writing blog posts will be a goal as well. As a closing thought, my word for 2017 is going to be patience. Everything cannot happen/be done instantly, right? Sending thanks to Yvonne of Quilting JETgirl for hosting a link party for our plans for 2017. Be sure to visit her blog and even join in the link party.

Christmas 2016

Merry Christmas to you all. Hoping your day is happy and spent with those you love. Pictured above is our Christmas tree for 2016. Yeah, it does not change much from year to year, except the gifts and the ornaments, lol. The children love those sparkling lights so much. Hoping you all have a safe and happy holiday. Christmas gift for twin sister

Good morning friends. How is holiday decorating/preparing going? Ours is finally almost completed. My twin sister loves cats, so the wall hanging quilt pictured above is perfect for her. It is a pattern by Caroline Kearney, called This Flower Is For You, and is from a purchased book. The designer states that she loves the interplay of black and white, and that it inspired this pattern. Mine finished at 26 1/2" X 23", and features all-over meandering machine quilting. The appliques are also machine stitched. On the back are two corner pockets all ready for a wooden dowel (included) to hang the quilt on the wall. To see the back, with it's pieced backing, continue reading.

Mason® jars decorated

Hoping you all are enjoying these last remaining days of autumn. Winter will be here soon. Pictured above are two Mason® jars that I decorated. One is more autumn while the other is winter. The autumn one is filled with fake berries, while the winter one is filled with fake snow flakes. The instructions for these is from: Jill at: Create Craft Love.com. She did the autumn leaf one, and I decided to do the winter snowflake one. The jars were free, as they came from our own kitchen. Recall my post about finding them back in 2013. They appear to be a bit old. These are so cute, but decided to not give one to my daughter until granddaughter is a bit older (the glass could break if dropped). Many thanks to Jill for this tutorial. Today, we could obtain some real snow for that winter snowflake jar. Although the Northern Hemisphere Winter Solstice does not begin until the 21st, we are getting a wintery mix currently. Prim autumn/winter blessings.

Christmas Ornaments pillows

Hello you all. Pictured above is a cute Christmas pillow that I made for my daughter and her family. This is so modern and chic- they are bound to love it. The free pattern is from: Kathy of: K T Green Designs. Mine came-out to be 15" square. The candy cane binding really makes it pop, doesn't it? Yes, it was supposed to be cut on the bias, but didn't have enough fabric to do that. So, overall, the pillow seems to be a success. Please contonue reading to see the other Christmas Ornaments pillow.
