Pictured above is my granddaughter, Macey. She is having fun writing on the chalkboard of her new bench toy box. "Santa" (great-grandma Sarah & granny Danice) bought this toy box and refinished it for Macey. It is solid wood, and appears to be about 25+ years old. It was in a horrible shape, but has "good bones". This is what it looks like after much sanding, painting, and child-proofing. Here is the toy box when it was purchased as-is. Good bones, but a sloppy, thick paint job with stickers and stains all over it. The hinges were also rusty. The lid would also slam shut, and the open space under the heart was a danger of a child getting stuck in there. The following two photos show a close-up detail of the new child safe lid and modified open space, the colorful inside and bins, and the chalkboard front. We are so glad that Macey loves her new bench toy box!
There are new chrome-tone hinges on the lid, and a pink damask cushion across the seat. Inside are two hot pink storage bins. Granddaughter loves her color pink (and glitter), lol. Have you ever restored any furniture? Prim blessings.

Your Grandduughter is very lucky to have you and your many talents. This newly styled toy box is wonderful. I would like one...with pink and glitter please. Macey is also beautiful and Congrulations on her winning trophy contest.
I am so glad you made it more child safe...what a great idea! And it looks beautiful. I've never painted but this would be a good project. You sure have a beautiful granddaughter. I looked at her other photos too! Your daughter is lovely too! Hugs!
