Project Quilting 16.1: Mythical Creatures

Participating again this year in Project Quilting, going on over at Persimon Dreams blog. The first Challenge is Mtythical Creatures. This one was a bit difficult for me, as many patterns have a lot of detail that would require a lot of time to complete. I finally chose the: Crazy Labyrinth quilt block pattern from Moda, designed by Zen Chic. Please continue reading for more information, and for comments. Created with minotaur image: Freepik.

My quilt block is smaller than the original, and has an added appliqué in the center. The chosen mythical creature is from Greek mythology, and is called the minotaur {meaning half man and half bull}. The myth says that he was so evil that he was cast into the center cell of the labryinth in Crete. 'See him in the center, the black shadow appliqué? Learned the differences between a labyrinth and a maze. A labyrinth has only one path leading to its center, while a maze can have multiple paths. The latter contains dead end paths, while the former does not. My project is in the modern style, and was fun to create. Here are this little quilt's stats:

♦ dimensions: 14" X 15" {before washing and drying}

♦ fabrics: 100% cotton fabrics

♦ backing: 100% cotton beige leaves fabric

♦ batting: Warm N' Natural©

♦ quilting: machine-stitched free-motion meandering, with natural color thread.

♦ binding: 100% cotton fabric, solid beige, machine and hand-stitched

♥ Completed WIP/UFO quilts in 2025: 2 ♥
