Pink and black polka dots!

Happy 30th birthday to my daughter, Amanda, today! My how time flies. Sending love to her today. The outfit above is similar to one she had as a little girl. 'Reminds me so much of her. Do you ever change a pattern? Pictured above is New Look A6200, with some changes. This is the shirt pattern with a wider front band. The shorts have been changed to include bottom bands of the polka dot fabric. The hot pink fabric and the black polka dot fabric are both 100% cotton. I love this pattern! '2nd time it has been used.

Here is the matching head band for the New Look A6200 black polka dots and pink shorts set. I decided to make the band part of a smaller polka dot print. The flower is made of craft felt, and hot glued to the band. The shorts set pattern, New Look A6200, is a very easy and quick construct. No fasteners, linings or buttonholes. So, my pattern difficulty rating is:

Thrifty Thursday: blue stoneware

Hello friends. For this Thrifty Thursday, are two cute little blue stoneware pots from our local Salvation Army store. Very patriotic, aren't they? They were also a real find at just .25¢ each. They look great with my other Americana/patriotic goodes. Perfect for the upcoming 4th of July holiday. Prim Summer blessings (the Summer solstice begins in 2 days!).

Another doll-sized quilt

This is a photo of the 2nd doll-sized quilt that I have sewn. This pattern is called Garden Gate, and is a free pattern by: Eleanor Burns' Quilt In A Day. This one has been re-sized, and is 15"X15" square. The fabrics are 100% cottons in soft pastel shades. Do you recognize the pretty yellow floral print, from the Secret Garden Precious dress? The binding corners are squared. I am still learning how to make nice, sharp flying geese points. Do you have trouble with that also? One great tip is to sew the flying geese squares beginning and ending 1/4" from the corners. This helps them to fold easier and correctly when adding the border or binding.

Pinwheel hairbows

Hello friends. Pictured above are four pinwheel hair bows. These are made by wrapping ribbons into specific shapes and attaching them to a barrette or clasp. Some pinwheel hair bows are made of two stacks. The top one in the photo is a one-stacked, and the other ones are two-stacked. Basically, two-stacked are two separate hair bows attached together by a center strip to form one hair bow. Working with ribbons is a bit tricky, as they can easily slip from your hand while trying to hot glue them in place. The satin ribbon usually slips more than the gros grain. The aqua and white hair bow is made of satin ribbon. These hair bows are already given to my granddaughter Macey.

Aqua and brown batik dress

Here is another dress and a hair bow for my granddaughter, using Simplicity 2063 pattern again. The pattern is so cute, 'just couldn't resist. This dress is made of 100% cotton batik, in aqua and dark brown colors. Aqua seems to be one of the "in"colors this season. When my daughter was younger, I honestly never thought of brown for little girls' clothing. The times and styles have certainly changed since then. Please continue reading.
