Custom tablet case

This is a custom-sized tablet case that I made for my twin sister. She needed a long strap to carry her tablet over her shoulder, and this works well. It is quilted with batting in a simple cross-hatch design. The front flap has blue (her favorite color) binding. Of course the fabric is a cute cat print, because she also loves cats. The batting will also serve as a cushion barrier to protect her tablet. Have you ever made something like this?

CIL block drive: Jan-Feb 2019

Hello to all. Hoping that you are all doing well. Rain, rain and more rain is in this area. Thank goodness the temps are above freezing, though. These are string quilt blocks for the Jan-Feb 2019 Covered in Love drive. The blocks are sewn into quilts for hospital patients, and then pass on to their families. Blocks should be sent to Kat before the end of this month, February. All of the details are on her blog at: Jan-Feb String Block Drive.

Valentine's Day 2019

Happy Valentine's Day to you all. We tend to think of red, pink and white for this holiday, don't we? This is a snack mat that I made for my granddaughter, who is seven. The backing is her favorite color, hot pink. It came-out a bit larger than intended, finishing at 11" X 18 1/2", but that will probably be handy. Batting is Warm N' Natural® 100% cotton, and the quilting is walking foot horizontal lines. The heart pattern is free, and is found at: Cluck Cluck Sew.

Humble Heart Swap 2019

Good morning friends. It sure is cold weather here. Brrr! These are the items from Amy's: Humble Heart Swap. The top photo is all of the darling goodies that Amy sent to me: little penguin, two red homespun heart tucks, and Amish-style corncob doll, green berry pin keep, and three sheep ornies. Aren't they all perfect? Thank you so much Amy, for these gifts and for hosting the swap. The lower photo is the goodies that I sent to Amy: black crow, little birdhouse with a heart door opening, dobby-covered journal, blue fabrics hearts pin keep, pink paper mache box with thread and a thimble inside, red patchwork heart tuck, cross-stitched prim pocket, and three prim clothes pins. What a fun swap, as always. Many of these items are already displayed in my house. Prim blessings, and stay warm in this weather.

Hand Pieced QAL: first three weeks

Here are my first three weeks of blocks for Elm Street Quilts' Hand-Pieced QAL. Having done very little hand piecing, this is a true challenge + learning experience. From left to right, the first week was the 4 Patch, second week was Half-Square Triangles, and the third week is Flying Geese. It is not too late to join in on the fun. There are two choices for a layout, or you can create your own. It will not be a large quilt. Rules and guidelines are on Elm Street Quilts Blog. My chosen colorway is kinda simple. What would you choose?

Kelsey's pink knit dress

Here is Kelsey, this time wearing her knit hot pink dress and coordinating multi-color cowl scarf. The dress is made from a child's t-shirt. Of course, she is wearing her brown leather loafers. This ensemble went to my granddaughter for her 18" dolls, and she loves it, especially because it is hot pink. In 2016, 'had to buy an 18" doll for myself, to fit the clothing to, right? Well, OK, also because the doll is so adorable! Who am I kidding? What are you sewing this week?
